Haye ducked Sports Personality of the year he didnt bother to turn up and finished last with just 7000 votes, just show that British people are not fooled by Haye.

I wasn't comparing them so much there was I, I was merely saying I don't really consider either of them sports. Yes for different reasons somewhat.
The jockey isn't the one doing the running, he's just sitting tight and whipping away at that poor fit horse with a cane, a horse whom I might add, is whom wins or loses the race.
At least the darts player is completely in control and responsible for his winning and consistently remaining the best, based on his own practice and performance.
Neither are sports though imo. And ask most brit's what they're personalities are like, they'll look at your like your an alien. 'Sorry whom' will be the answer off the street.
so motor sport isnt a sport either then, as the car/bike does all the work. nothing at all to do with the driver? Behave yourself, ive seen horses lose races loads of times cos of the dumbass on its back
btw for anyone thats interested bet against Kauto Star in the King Georges on boxing day, its got a 25lb disadvantage. Concidering the size of the jockeys thats like having an extra person on its back!
I think Brit's are a little tired of giving it to boxers, Calzaghe and Hatton etc.
Pretty shoddy year though. 1st and 2nd, were to a darts player, and a horse jockey.
Fuck that, neither are sports imo, both crap personalities, and the jockey was in controversy over fraudulent betting etc.
Beckhams in his 30's, not even middle aged or retired, and he's been given a lifetime achievement award or whatever.
Surely there were guys in they're 70's giving to sport all they're lives about to drop they're clogs, that coulda got that.
Beckham can have it in twenty years, heck even a few at this rate.
Sports Personality of the years makes no sense, pile of wank if you ask me.
They should have given the lifetime achievement award to Frank Williams instead of Beckham.
A P McCoy and Phil Taylor have won more in there sport than anyone else in the history of there sports. People thinking they dont deserve it because they dont like there sports
15 times champion jockey - thats even more than Phil Taylor managed. most successful jockey ever, and he finally won the grand national.
The thing that impresses me most about his career though is his "mistakes". McCoy has also endured his fair share of injuries over the years.
During his career he has broken his ankle, his arm, his wrist and his leg but in January 2008 he broke vertebra in his back after a heavy fall at Warwick before battling back be fit to ride at Cheltenham a little over eight weeks later
His recovery was aided by Kriotherapy treatment, which involved going into an insulated compartment with temperatures as low as minus 135 degrees.
"The Warwick injury was probably the worst pain I have endured," he said.
"I also broke my wrist pretty badly in Ireland a couple of years ago and it was basically hanging on by the skin, which wasn't great to look at.
"Injuries are part of the game but there are a lot of lads out there who have had as many injuries, maybe more than me, who have had a lot less reward so I'm quite lucky."
Hes also had 5 teeth knocked out lol. Boxers dont even have to put up with that kind of ****
Midgets on horses, not even a sport...
I'd class jockeys as more legitimate than darts players though. They do have to be tough as hell, as well as very brave. They also need to keep in good shape and be at a certain weight. So with that in mind, comparing them to darts players is a bit unfair.

hard for me to get a perspective of the general awareness of people's familiarity of AP.
Im a bit of a punter, and im from Northern Ireland, 20 out of 20 people i asked on the street would know him.
But people all over the UK have been backing him to win the biggest horse race in the UK for over a decade, a race people bet on even if they never bet on anything esle all year. id be very surprised if u asked 20 people and none of them knew. When i lived in England my mates just backed his horse on the grand national without doing any reading up on it.
You would be lucky if 5 people recognized the name. Apart from the national, horse racing is not a very popular sport in england imo. Too me he is the bloke that won the national the other year.
I knew Haye wouldn't win it, primarily because he has only beaten Ruiz and Harrison this year, which my nan would be able to do without breaking into a sweat.
I thought Westwood would win it, being the new no1 in golf. I'm glad that Jess Ennis and Phil Taylor got some recognition for their achievements this year too, along with the lifetime award for Becks - that was touching.
A good show all in all, but I agree with the person who said it needs to be called Sports Person of the year, and not Sports Personality.
I mean no way did McCoy win it. No one knows who the **** he is.
I'm not sure about that. Most people who know nothing about horse racing will know him from the Grand National.
I though Tom Daley or Jessica Ennis should have won, they've won every competition they've entered over the last few years. Daley's still only 16 or 17aswell I believe.
McCoy's horses deserve the award more than him. Taylor in 2nd is an absolute disgrace aswell.
If you asked 20 people on the street I wouldn't be suprised if not a single one of them knew him.

How does he not help the image? The only boxing star bigger than Haye in this country is Amir Khan, and i bet Khans PPV numbers dont come close to matching Hayes.
He hardly helps as he does completely the opposite of what he says, he makes a joke of a fight against Harrison (there were loads of people on his own facebook page moaning at him for that) gets into trouble with the media over stupid comments he makes, hardly ever fights, refuses to fight a dangerous opponent, puts on a dreadfully boring performance against Valuev, Keeps going on about retirement, Keeps saying that UFC cards give better value for money than boxing cards, is disrespectful to the Klitscko brothers despite having no resume of his own to backup those claims, Brings out two stupid fanazines that are a total rip.
Need i go on, he maybe be popular but he could be doing much more for the sport than he does, the guy only cares about money plain and simple.
apart from the fact the entire horse racing sport had a campaign for him to win it, they even changed the name of races to Vote AP McCoy ffs.
Ever walk into an empty bookies? I havent.

BBC does nothing for boxing but guys like Haye dont help the image of the sport in this country.
