Manny winning his 8th in 8, by dominating the much larger Margarito...
Khan Khanquering his demons by surviving Maidana's power punching onslaught to win a hard fought decision over the Argentine bomber...
Giovani Segura's FOTY performance and KO win over undefeated Ivan Calderon...
Marquez' masterful dismantling of Michael Katsidis after nearly having his dome knocked off early in the fight...
It was a great year of boxing and these were just a few of the great performances of the year. Name some of the performances you would consider the "Most Impressive of the Year"...
Pacman's two performances were outstanding.
I mean people say his foes were facked up guys, but I think Pac facks them up in the fight.
also Clev's shut out on Murat and Froch's shut out on Abraham, to dickride a bit my tea drinking cunts.
also Nonito impressed the hell outta me.
I actually like Froch in this one. Not many people expected him to win every single minute of every single round against a guy who was a favorite to win the Super 6.
I think Martinez 2 rd destruction of Williams was the best thing I seen all year honestly...
it was the best ko but it was too short to be rated as the best performance.
1) Mayweather outclassing Mosley was pretty fukin sweet!
2) JMM vs Katsidis was an all out war exciting from start to finish.
3) Pac vs The Cheating Scumbag was very satisfying, although I was hoping Pac would have been a little more relentless and not have taken it easy on that fukin piece of sh*t!4) Martinez vs Williams 2 was a shocker!
5) Mares vs Vic & Mares vs Perez were awesome too!
6) B-hop vs Pascal was a good one.
It was a pretty good year of boxing when u think about it.
You really hate marg that much? chill bro, I think he paid for it already, got mauled in 12 rounds. :boxing:
Ok, so I'm gonna make a poll now, thanks for all the input.. it's gonna go something like this, if you want me to add any others, please advise...
In no particular order...
Manny dec Margs
Marquez TKO Katsidis
Froch dec AA
Martinez KO Williams
BHop draw Pascal
Khan dec Maidana
Mares dec Vic
Segura TKO Calderon
Montiel TKO Hasegawa
There's Room For One More
Pac-Margarito does not even belong up there!!Martinez's destruction of the Punisher,Froch outclassing Abraham & B-Hop's performance against a younger lineal titlist!!Mares, fighting a huge gash,a referee & Vic to earn a win!!
Yeah right. Speak for yourself, bud. Only when the fight is over.
You're one of those hypocrite idiots who predicted Margarito would
dismantle Pac. Real boxing fans, my a$$. I know you guys are highly
regarded here. Highly regarded morons.
7 Reasons Margarito Will Stop Pacquiao
After analyzing a few of Margarito's (specifically Williams, Santos, and Martinez) and Pacquiao's fights, I have come to the conclusion that Margarito has a great shot at stopping Pacquiao.
1 - Margarito has underrated timing/counterpunching against southpaws, he has this hard counter right uppercut/hook to the body that he lands a lot on southpaws. I don't see Pacquiao getting away from it consistently either.
2 - Margarito has underrated defense against southpaws, he caught/blocked/dodged most of Williams jabs and straight lefts.
3 - Margarito finds a way to consistently get to them offensively, he starts landing that right to the body after that he starts coming with his left hook to the body, straight right up top, etc.
4 - Pacquiao's defense is based almost entirely on his legs, as soon as Margarito is able to consistently close the distance, his legs won't be able to get him out of trouble consistently. Pacquiao has almost no inside game, so all he does is cover up and shoot his counter right hook.
5 - Margarito won't respect Pacquiao's power, he has a great chin to do this, but even when he does get hurt or stunned, he'll still keep coming forward. He got hurt against Santos (who had a 10 pound advantage 160 to 170) and he still came forward.
6 - The pressure he puts on is incredible. Even Paul Williams throwing 1200+ punches had to consistently hold to a point where he was warned in the 7th and kept holding in spots. Paul Williams was taller (easier for taller fighters to hold an opponent) and had good strength to keep Margarito in the clinch, 2 things I feel Pacquiao won't be able to do. When Margarito gets to his body and starts piling it on, he won't be able to stop it, unless he runs.
7 - Pacquiao's aggressiveness will play against him. He will expend energy exploding in, letting his combinations go, and getting out. Only to have Margarito's counter right to the body land in the exchange, if Margarito misses, he'll just come right back and let his shots go.
To me, the most important question that has to be answered in the fight is:
Can Pacquiao take Margarito's body shots and pressure without getting worn down?
Believe it or not, the man you probably feel is too slow to land, will land, and Manny's resistance will have to answer that question.
I had Pacquiao by UD and I thought it would be easy, but it's changed (not because of any rumor or hype either) to Margarito KO10.
I know what Hopkins did was very impressive, but there's no way getting knocked down twice and having a draw with Jean Pascal is more impressive than Sergio knocking Paul Williams unconscious in two rounds.
1) Mayweather outclassing Mosley was pretty fukin sweet!
2) JMM vs Katsidis was an all out war exciting from start to finish.
3) Pac vs The Cheating Scumbag was very satisfying, although I was hoping Pac would have been a little more relentless and not have taken it easy on that fukin piece of sh*t!
4) Martinez vs Williams 2 was a shocker!
5) Mares vs Vic & Mares vs Perez were awesome too!
6) B-hop vs Pascal was a good one.

I think Khans victory over Maidana was by far the most impressive. Going into that fight, most of us felt if MM caught him with a good shot on the chin, the fight would be over. Khan looked very impressive early on with the body shot knock down and the speed in his combinations we haven't seen in a long time. Then when the moment happened when he was finally caught, he was still hurt but he took the shot and even several more that should have put him down. He stayed up but wobbled around the ring and had a hard time walking strait back to his corner. I thought the end was near but he hung on and looked better in the 11th than I could have imagined after the beating he had taken. To his credit he finished out the fight on his feet and showed real heart. That night he showed everything he had. The drama in that fight was at a higher level than any of the other fights I've seen all year.
Martinez the most impressive this year, Manny vs Marg was good but we all knew this was Pac vs DLH 2
Did you even watch the fight? How the hell can you even compare the DLH fight to the Margarito fight? Marg at least gave Manny a run for his money if only for a short period whereas DLH lost every second of his fight with Manny. Marg has landed more solid shots to Manny in one round than anybody else and this is not mere pushover.
Hopkins............................
lol with Williams iced and Mayweather yellowing out, the old guy is all you have left. Fair play though, he put in a great performance (but for a 45/46 year old not generally).
