Like I say, Ive rooted against him a lot of the time as a hardcore boxing fan (since the mid 90s) the main reason being that every time Ive watched him against about 50% of his apponents, I wanted the other fella to succeed! Guys like de la hoya, calzaghe, trinidad, johnson and such like. Ive found it hard to get excited about him due to his reluctance to do it his way so to speak:sleeping:. no pun intended. I was rooting for Pascal in this fight and Hopkins makes a believer out of me almost every time, but I wanted Pascal to beat hopkins in good style and finish this old man who's making a mockery out of our sport! but Half of the way through the fight I found my self shouting at my computer screen for Hopkins to keep fighting like he was, but minus the knockdowns (that ended up being the deciding factor) for he was doing something not many of us are used to him doing..... Giving the fans a good show!!! Its just a shame Im warming to him so late, and at an advanced age of 45. Tho is says a lot for him to be convincing stubbord f*c*ers like me at this stage! Long live Hopkins!!!!!!!!
Don't know how anyone could root for him.
Why not??
Because he won 22 world championships??
And beat 10 former world champions??
Btw,he fought Hopkins and Jones without sparring in his training camp due to his hands...
I respect this dude, and he was a good fighter, underrated abilities.
Don't know how anyone could root for him.
Part cos ive followed Calzaghes career from his 12 pro fight, and part Ive considered him an exciting fighter to watch as a whole (for the most part that is) .:boxing:
Wazaa you know the difference between elgaringo and el gringo
One of the main reasons being I dont post on here anywhere near as much as the great El gringo! lol
