Peterson's a solid guy.
But why him and not Ortiz.
You would think that Ortiz is the bigger name and would sell better.
GBP is trying to build up to khan/ortiz.
they are recycling peterson.
There is no reason to fight Maidana again. Khan outboxed him for the majority of the fight. Maidana was to slow to make an impact, he hurt Khan near the end but couldn't finish him, it all came too late he blew his chance. The same outcome would happen again if they fought, Maidana is not a top guy at 140 like Bradley, Alexander and Khan. He can definatley cause top guys problems because he's got a huge punch, but as you saw having a big punch is not enough to win against a decent boxers like those guys. By the time he's got to them late in the fight they have enough rounds in the bank to just run for the rest of the fight and win a decision. Also, his punch resistance is questionable being dropped by Victor Ortiz and Amir Khan.
Then i see people saying "no don't fight Peterson fight Ortiz", yeah because Ortiz looked good in his last outing against Peterson...
Fact is the fight was a draw and Ortiz hasn't looked the same since his Maidana loss, if anyone should be fighting Maidana next it's Victor Ortiz to prove himself and avenge his loss. The guy has no confidence anymore and this could be the fight to rebuild it, not to mention rebuild his credibility.
Interesting to see Khan complain that he lacked normal sharpness because he was over-trained, and that the camp had been too long. Pre-fight he said he'd had a great camp and couldn't have been better prepared. Wonder what Roach and Ariza make of Khan's beef?
styles makes fights.peterson is not slow like the hard punching maidana. plus peterson has good movement and won't be hit as easy as maidana did.this is a good fight and lamont can fight.peterson does need to be more busier and i hope he does. he's faster and sharper than maidana and can upset khan.
Peterson also has good fundamentals. another thing is he has a fairly good jab, possibly good enough to offset Amir's speed a bit. but the key for him to win, like you said, is to stay busy. he needs to put more combinations together. this is the only downside to both Peterson brothers. for some reason they can't seem to put their punches in bunches. if he fixes that problem i don't see why he can't take khan into deep waters and win. I like this match up from a technial stand point. It may not be exciting but i love technical fights.
to be totally fair; if you were Khans promoter you wouldnt want him in with another heavy hitter especially when you risk a show down with the winner of bradley - alexander. i thought khan would chose a soft puncher for his next fight, no way would it have been Ortiz as i think whilst Ortiz is a coward that shows quitting signs all the time, that he is athletic, quick and can hit hard. that would be a very dangerous "tune up" - Peterson makes sense. its a low-risk, medium range reward especially as it will happen in the UK and will sell out whoever it is.
Peterson is a smart choice. Not really exciting, but i understand why it makes sense. The good fight is coming next year when Khan meets up with either devon or timmy..until then, it's just keeping in shape...
:boxing:dont really matter to me who it will be. amirs next opponent will not be easy but at the same time not hard(tune up match if you will) than he starts taking on the better fighters(tim, devon, david, ect.):boxing:
I'm trying to figure out which David you're talking about.
Ehh
Ok fight I guess. Good match up but excitement wise it does nothing. Personally, I would much rather see him in there with Zab or avenge his loss to Prescott. Like one poster said "It's like promising Holt vs Torres 3 and giving us Holt vs Demetrius Hopkins." Perfect analogy.

This is like promising us Holt vs Torres III then giving us Holt vs Demetrious Hopkins. Khan vs Peterson will be half less exciting than Khan vs Judah could have been.
Not to mention it wont be competetive.
Khan makes Peterson look like a fool.

See i told you this would happen = Peterson is considered the softest of the bunch and like amir said he would expect to KNOCK HIM OUT couple that along with Cortez as the referee and Peterson doesnt have a chance.....i bet cortez has team khan on his shirt this time round no point in trying to hide it now !!!
I don't know if you're being sarcastic with this thread or if you're really serious.
I hope is the former.
Khan Peterson? SERIOUSLY? ................. wtf thought Judah was fighting him. Fight Judah peterson lost to Ortiz (arguably) ..... fk....
If you want to say that Peterson lost to Ortiz(arguably) then you can also say Judah lost to Matthysse(arguably)
How is Judah better opponent than Peterson? Is Judah even ranked in the top 10 by any respectable ranking?
Ex: The Ring-Judah not nanked, Peterson ranked #9. BoxingScene-Judah not ranked, Peterson ranked #9.
Don't you think that Judah should face at least one top 10 before putting him in their against the elite JWWs?
Theres no way GBP are putting Ortiz in with Khan yet, they wanna build that boys bollocks back up a bit first. Peterson is a good boxer, probably under-rated a little bit after the Bradley loss, so im pretty pleased with this match up.
Hilarious.
Peterson could be a tricky opponent and Khan will have to be a lot better than he was against Maidana.
How about a Maidana rematch in the UK?
I’m sure it would sell out…
Don't think Amir Kahn would learn from a rematch. He beat Maidana very clearly in my opinion. He just get hurt in the 10th and survived well.
I think Peterson with his pressure style and will, ability to overcome knockdowns can give Kahn a decent fight.
Let's see how Amir fights against a tough guy close to his size.
Don't get me wrong,Amir beat Peterson, but it's be a good test for Amir.
I think Peterson is still learning and getting better as well.
A tune up against Peterson then Bradley alexander winner would be a good plan.
I would love to his Ortiz vs Kahn as well, but not yet.
Also, if he doesn't fight Prescott now...He will never...
peterson got beat by ortiz that draw was bull i rather see him fight ortiz
golden boy will not put ortiz in the ring with khan right now, ortiz does not like to be hit and khan will punch him all night long till he quits.bad fight for ortiz and golden boy
keep ortiz away from khan and let him the loser of bradley vs devon fight,i know you will all say the loser should fight maidana but they will all duck maidana
