I guess Big George prevented this fight.
I think this would have been a hell of a fight.
Right after beating Holyfied.
Could Moorer have beaten Lewis?
Lewis had just loss to McCall.
Lets say Moorer never fights George and Lewis fights Moorer instead of McCall.
Who u got?
Holyfield is Moorers only real claim to fame. One great performance against one of the smaller+lighter punching top heavies is a far cry from beating the class A Lennox Lewis.
Yeah Lewis ducked all Southpaws for stylistic reasons like many boxers did, including Tyson too.
However that doesn't mean Lennox loses to every Southpaw, especially considering Moorer would be among the weakest opponents Lennox Lewis ever faced.
Moorer would not have lasted more than a round with LEnnox Lewis. 2 at the max!
Credit to Lennox Lewis, he actively sought out the toughest opponents at the time and purposely avoided the weaker ones like Moorer to fight stronger ones.
Moorer was an agressive southpaw with good skills. He had good movement and punch variety, but I just don't see him getting through with a prime Lennox for 12 rounds. If it had happened in '93 or '94, I'd definitely give Moorer a good chance, but '96 and after, Lennox would win.
but Moorer isn't getting the respect he deserves.
Lewis pre McCall was alot more aggressive than he was later in his career, I think would stop him pretty early. I always thought Lewis' fights went on longer than they needed to at times, apart from Golota Lewis never really showed just how devastating he could be post McCall.
A lot of you guys are judging Moorer post Foreman. The question is if he had never been KO'd by George and had waited till the Lewis fight. Moorer was 2 completely different fighters. A confident Moorer would have given Lennox hell. He was a very heavy handed southpaw who could fight in and out. Very dangerous fight for Lewis.
I definitely don't consider Lennox Lewis a great heavyweight but he definitely has the tools to wreck Moorer.
You have 0 credibility if you don't think Lennox Lewis, after all said and done, isn't considered a great heavyweight.
And I f'in hate Lewis too and was hoping to Jesus that Klitschko wiped him out.
moorer was too weak minded and inconsistent to hang in there with lewis
he would have a puncher's chance but then again most of lewis' high profile opponents did...
lewis by midround stoppage
I think people are going to underestimate Moorer naturally because of the aftermath of the Foreman fight. And people are so easily ready to forget that Lewis was hardly a proven great champ like he became back then. But still, a guy with all the physical advantages and pretty much ATG talent standing on the outside out jabbing Moorer. Doesn't sound like the best of the match ups for Moorer.
I think your underselling his power.
Michael Moorer had pop at HW.
And Lewis didn't have the best chin.
Yeah, but u have to get to the target to use that pop.MM was a smaller HW with shorter reach, for him to counter effectively he would need to be on the inside vs LL,and that spells trouble for MM considering one of LL best punches was the uppercut.
Yeah,if he was fighting Corie Sanders instead, just my opinion btw :P

I could not find a single lefty on Lewis's resume.
That would make this fight very interesting.

moorer's a slippery dude, and ll never having fought a southpaw would make him that much more trouble. but imo he can't stay away from those long arms forever.
lennox by mid round stoppage. moorer would frustrate him for a few rounds before the big right hand finally lands
How many southpaws did Lewis fight?
Did he ever fight one?
Lewis would decapitate Moorer. We're talking about a former LHW here. Total mismatch.
A former LHW who beat a Evander Holyfiled 6 years prior to Lewis beating him.
Michael Moorer was a bad dude before he got caught by Big George.
Lewis recovered a lot better from his KO than Moorer did.
