Not only did he take a beating in the 10th round.....but he took heavy shots from round 1 to round 12 that is not being talked about. Maidana landed 2 great overhand right shots in the first 30 seconds of round 1 and was landing clean shots in every round. Khan took a real beating in that fight and maybe his youth, freshness and conditioning got him out of him.
Took something out of Khan? This was exactly what he needed to establish himself. He couldn't have done better, his confidence is sky high now.
He will clear out the division, watch and learn. Bradley or Alexander will be given a boxing lesson.

it wasn't a particular grueling beat down that khan received.
No he's young, he doesn't need to many fights like that, maybe a slightly easier one for his next fight, and then unify against most likely bradley, which I think will win or lose will also not be as taxing, though im convinced khan will beat bradley by decision, bradley will bring the fight and try and pressure him but khan will catch him coming him and win a close decision in another exciting fight.
hes taken a lot of damage in his young career, thats for sure. either he tighten up his defense or hes gonna have a hard time getting very far. that is indisputable.
people fail to realize just how brutal an amateur career can be. all the gym wars, the amateur fight schedule. Its brutal on the body. this is coming from a guy who fought a fraction of the fights khan must have.
No...
he wasn't consistently getting beaten for 12 rounds to where if he takes another shot like that his career is over. It's the name of the game sometimes, and it's really overcoming the adversity that shows how far a fighter is going to go. I think Khan will be around for a while.
Not that I really ever questioned it more than his chin, but the kid's got a lot of heart and guts and he weathered the storm. He got my respect.
having heart is cool. but khan isnt the type of fighter that needs to be hit. he's tall and lanky, kinda like hearns. hearns had a weak chin as well, his saving grace was that his power was so real that he could scare ppl away with his straight right hands etc. not to mention his excellent boxing skills. khan is no hearns, he doesnt have the power like hearns. but what he does have, is the athleticism and ability to become an excellent boxer, one that doesnt get hit. that's roach's job imo. those combos are nice and all, but they wont hold up for 12 rounds, hes gonna have to learn how to keep ppl off of him or hes gonna be in a heap of trouble.
No I think this fight will end up doing him a lot of good and make him a better fighter. Amir has had a lot of soft fights and does not have much ware and tear and at the back of his mind must have had ??? about himself and how he would cope in a tough gruelling fight. Those questions have now been answered and he will always go into a fight knowing he can cope when the going gets tough and that can only add to his confidence. He does not need too many of those types of beatings 2 or more fights like this one will take something out of him.
Yes, i agree that he hasnt taken tons punishment besides the Maidana fight and the 54sec with prescott. If he went on to become an olympian, that points to a lot amateur fights. Would you happen to know his amateur record or how many fights he had?
Thanks

I know this fight didnt resemble trinidad-vargas, but vargas should be a reminder that youth doesnt mean a thing and you can be runied in that one fight.
as for khan, aside from the bombs in the 10th, maidana was doing some nasty work on him throught the fight. Those uppercuts on the inside mixed with the hooks to the body were no joke. I dont think he is ruined, but i think he left a piece of himself in that ring saturday.

The shots be took against Prescott were worse than anything Maidana landed.
He's taken only a handful of sickening shots in his career.
It's Paul Williams we should be worried about IMO, the KO Martinez dealt him was horrendous.
Khan's health is fine, the doctors gave him the all clear after scans.
Roach took many a shot in his career before he developed Parkinson's. Amir isn't at all punch-drunk.
Speaking of Punch-drunkeness, I hope Litzau doesn't get into anymore wars and gets a few good paydays. That kid needs to retire soon, otherwise his health is going to suffer even more.
Mtagwa gave Juanma a bad beating and he looked ok against Rafa so I say there really isn't much that got taken out of khunt...just a learning experience.

Yeah, it'll take a little out of him.
i'll be honest when i saw him taking those shots, i thought i would see more threads posted saying has khan had stuff PUT IN HIM by Ariza & co...thankfully not
i dunno ...we have to see how he looks next fight. the answers will all be there. i think he is going to blossom after this fight...i think this his confidence will be sky high and we all know a man with confidence is dangerous. we wait and see if its taken out more then its put in...but i dont think so. he was only 24 last week...he's still got youth on his side yet
