I was. Im not even a fan really.
Ate more shots than I thought he would/could. And fukk you cry babies crying about Cortez. I don't really know how anyone can score that fight for Maidana even with the point deduction.
never have liked khan, but he gets nothing but props from me. I've never questioned his heart (or mouth!!) as I knew he always had a big heart, but have always questioned his chin. He now seems to have answered. hater no not, you can't deny how well he did sat night. well done. Now learn to keep your mouth shut inbetween fights and all is good.
(I want to know where his chin has come from, uncle freddie??)
I never thought Khan would ever be in that type of fight - his chin stood up to the test, so did his heart and conditioning.
Khan out-landed Maidana in every round except the last 3 rounds.
Khan outlanded Maidana 162-62 in total punches in rounds one through six.
Khan clearly won that fight. If you want to be very, very generous to Maidana, he only won 5 rounds, max. Khan won 7 rounds, plus he scored a KD and Maidana was deducted a point for the elbow.
My score was 115-111 to Khan, and I gave the close round to Maidana.
I would also accept 116-110.
How anyone can possibly score it a draw or Khan by 1 point, is absolutely fucking moronic.
I agree with this post.
Definitely
Most impressed by his resilience in the 10th
Wasn't a fan of the gameplan, Maidana couldn't get near him when he boxed... as soon as he started going for the big shots, he was getting caught.
on paper, maidana is there to be out-boxed by anyone. amir did what he was supposed to do up until he got caught which is what i would really gauge his performance on. in that sense, i'm only impressed with how his chin held up. it's better than i thought but more importantly, he showed NO defense, couldn't fight in the pocket or going backwards, JC had to play bodyguard every time amir was exposed. his defense consisted of eating uppercuts and running back for cortez to step in and be his meatshield. his offense was expected, his lack of defense was a disappointment. he ran till the final bell to win on points, smart, but hardly impressive.
I liked a lot of things he did in there. He made some mistakes defense wise, but i think it was a pretty good performance against a tough and willing opponent. He has a lot of talent at really young age. There is room for improvement, but i think khan gets even better with some more experience.
Absolutley. He showed a lot of heart and a ton of skill. Impressed with Maidana too, he didn't get frusterated and just start swinging wild, he stuck to it and almost won. Great fight all around.
What I saw was that Khan was able to get away of most Marcos punches but with that one clean punch he was hurt bad. His chin maybe a little below then most but its not like before where a flush jab can hurt him
despite receiving vicious shots from one of the hardest punchers in the business, i'd say im impressed
but they should work out Khan's defense next time
he'll be a future p4p king in years time
BTW, i root for Maidana
He did show a lot of heart and his chin is a lot better than I expected, but considering his talent/ skill set....I wasn't all that impressed with his performance. The fight should have been a lot easier.
Khan proved his chin is better than expected, but he struggled in a fight that most thought he would easily win. He's not as skilled as he was made out to be.
I was, because he answered the question we all had about his chin quite convincingly. The risky way he fought nearly cost him, but bottom line is it didn't, and he beat the guy so many thought he would avoid at all costs.
I was delighted, he had 1 bad round of 12, thats it 1 bad round
He schooled kotelnic who really beat alexander and beat maidana easily bar a huge scare in the 10th round
he will beat bradley imo
