After he dropped Maidana with those bodyshots he was on the canvas for a long time, then slowly got up, and was still slouched over. Way past 10 seconds. You're supposed to be okay and alert by 8 and Maidana wasn't.
Joe Cortez is a sh*t ref.
seen it more than a dozen times, and actually joes count is one second ahead of what it should've been, to be honest.
yes joe cortez is becoming a terrible ref, his work is turning sour and poor decisions or misjudgments, what have you, that or he's paid off and is obvious about his business.......
but i've seen the count in real time enough and no, maidana beat the count, there is no controversy about this one.
No, that didn't happen. Maidana got up way before the 8 count...I think it was at like 5 or 6. After that he ran to the corner and then took a deep breath showed Cortez he was ok by walking towards him then he went back to chasing Khan.
Walking towards him? He bent over like he was gonna give Cortez head
Looking at the clock from the HBO feed, Maidana hit the canvass, rolled over with about 19 seconds left in the first round, got up(turning away from Cortez) with still 12 seconds left, so he clearly beat the count.
Well, one of the rules is' you cannot be saved by the bell in any round except the last round. Cortez could have continued counting even if the bell has sounded.

well if Cortez didn't let Khan reset in the 10th when Khan turned his back on Maidana twice. Khan would've been...
But that wouldn't of happened if Cortez counted out Maidana like he should have.
Right?
