Watching it again and If you ask me, I still can't decide if it should be stopped or not. I mean Amir was one good punch to having brain damage, yet he somewhat can still use his legs to get away for that. But that was outright scary IMHO, I can feel how Khan fans was feeling...
i think by khan finishing the fight pretty much answers that question... he also never was defenceless and actually came with his own flurries at sum points, some people think he actually won the 11th so just shows he was in control
Yup I thought Khan won the 11th too. Maidana landed more punches but Amir's was more clean and effective.

It could have been stopped. I've seen far worse stoppages had it been stopped, just look at the Degale stoppage, it was a little premature. Khan threw absolute nothing in the 10'th round, he was holding on for dear life.
Cortez got it right though by giving Khan the benefit of the doubt to warrior his way through it.
Hell no should it be stopped. The boy was on his feet and dancing.
Fcuk the malvinas, the falklands will always be british!!!!!!! Id be embarassed to write that if we had lost to those argie chumps.
He didn't get hit by an awful lot after the initial punch. He was clearly hurt, but he was still defending himself. I mean compare this round with Katsidis the other week - some people were complaining that stoppage was too early, yet Katsidis got caught with far far more in that round than Khan did on Saturday. I think it would have been an extremely controversial decision to stop the fight there.
The fact that Khan survived and won tells you pretty clearly that he made the right choice in letting the fight continue. I was a bit worried between rounds though when Khan seemed completely incoherent and dazed in his corner.
Hell no
There are times when you stop a fight in a 1 sided beatdown, Briggs and Marg, when the guy getting beaten up has no chance of winning
But in a competitive fight, where the guy who is hurt is winning and is still on his feet and is surviving, you let it go on
Well put. The fight rightfully wasn't stopped and that's about the only think Cortez got right Sat night...
No...
Khan wasn't literally a walking zombie, though he was clearly hurt. But had Khan been knocked down and gotten up and still received punishment, I could see the fight then stopping. Khan made it up to that round, was only right to let the fight go considering he was very successful prior to the right hand he got hit with.
No, it should have been stopped in the 1st :chairshot
What kind of BS is this? I didn't know there were so many Khan haters on this board, I'm going to have to defend the guy and I don't even like him much
Im not hating, just basing on facts.

Hell no. Khan was never completely out of it.
Cortez saved Khan's ass in that round the way he kept breaking the two up whenever they were close. Maidana almost certainly closes the deal if Cortez doesn't suck as a ref.
Khan was the champion, A championship boxingmatch like that shoudlnt have been stopped, especially when khan was so far ahead and was still going, he was even throwing the odd punch/combination back... and smiling, throwing his hands in the air....
what does him smiling have to with anything? alot of boxers smile when they are getting their ass kicked
Not like the first one that wobbled him if you saw that replay. That was so hard with lots of leverage, right on the button, and not seen by Khan. 1 or 2 more of those kind and Khan would've never been the same.
I don't agree with that because Khan was knocked out nasty by Prescott, took at least 3 or 4 hard flush shots after he was wobbled the first time, and came back to show a better chin than he did in that fight. IMO, Khan would have been KO'd before sustaining the kind of damage that ruins a fighter. Maybe if he had been hit with those shots spread out throughout the fight, but it didn't happen that way.

Well yes he was caught with a punch he didnt see coming and that was the main reason he was so hurt
But after he was hurt, he is now in defense mode and isnt going to be caught with suprise punches with his hands down

Theres no reason that Cortez should have stopped the fight
Getting hurt doesnt mean the fight gets stopped
And Maidana did catch him with huge shots all throughout that round but he survived
