No. if he really was siding with Khan then he would not have let Maidana throw hundred of uppercuts on Khan's chin. He would have also ruled that "slip" a Knockdown. Amir Khan haters are idiots who are not real Boxing fans.
it was funny whenever he'd break up the inside fighting for some reason, he would step in and cover up amir like he was stopping a bullet, that was a little bullshit.
Khan didn't need any help and nothing fat boy did changed the outcome but Cortez was clearly a dick to Maidana throughout the fight and it was completely needless.
Amir got away with pushing Maidana with both hands and punching right after the bell. Amir was even pushing Maidana head down and ocaassionaly hit him. Not even a warining from Cortez. Also Cortez did not allow no inside fighting by breaking them out too quickly. Cortez was all over Maidana, I don't think that it would had an outcome on the fight but didn't like that he was on Maidana's case
I think Khan would probably have won anyway, but by SD instead of UD.
That point deduction by Cortez was clearly wrong. And sometimes when the shorter-armed Maidana was fighting on the inside and starting to get to Khan with his uppercuts, Cortez stepped in and changed the momentum. Cortez gave Khan a few seconds to recover a few times when he was a bit hurt.
Cortez needs to retire, boxing is better off without him.
My thoughts exactly I think Khan would have still won so the help dirties the results. Khan was clearly the superior boxer so let them fight.
Cortez needed to let them punch out of clinches especially since Khan was the one holding why reward him by saving him from Maidana's inside punishment?
No Maidana still got in a lot of those shots and Cortez is terrible with his ability to seperate fighters. He's too agressive and always in the way. If he wasn't in the way a lot of those clinches probably would have been broken up clean. They looked really sloppy when Cortez was always right by them.
One of the worst refs in the sport. Not because of his reffing last night, hes just always sucked.
I personally like that guy who reffed Vazquez/Marquez 1 and 4. He doesn't interfere at all. Tony Weeks is good too. Bayless gets a little gay with that weird bending over **** he does
i vote yes. khan looked really good and didnt need the help. cortez was a bit biased IMO. give maidana a warning on the elbow. it seemed like every time MM landed clean cortez would want to break em up and give khan a few extra seconds. again, taking nothing from khan cause i think outcome would be pretty much the same.
There was one point where I did begin to think Cortez is interfering a little too frequently and it was all while Amir Khan wasn't back to 100% after getting blitzed by that over hand right.
Now do I think that means Cortez WON the fight for Khan? No. But there was one or two times where he got inbetween them without reason.
