Now before you go crazy hear me out:
I have no stock in either Maidana or Khan. In fact I expected to see a total beast in there in Khan against a fighter that while powerful lacked the skills to make it count. Everyone was raving about how Khan is a totally different fighter since his loss and how Freddie has changed completely changed him. BS.
So when I tuned in. I was instantly disappointed in Khans performance. He was quick but not blindingly so. Just enough to not be considered slow. However he wasn't really all that illusive. He was getting hit a lot by a guy that was considerably shorter than he was who was only just decent at correctly placing his shots.
Furthermore and this is where it gets really disappointing. It was the third round or so and Khan was completely winded in his stool in the corner. Khan is all over the ring but not comfortably so and so it demands a ridiculously high level of energy from him. More than he really has to give. So despite his speed advantage and better shot placement he really had no ring generalship. Maidanas coming forward was controlling his every move and maybe unwillingly so. That is why he was so winded. He looked like he was about to collapse and if it had not been because Maindana relented finally after being tired and maybe lacking a little will I feel Khan would have toppled over.
On top of it all Cortez was clearly on Khans side and very visibly so would constantly interrupt and butt in when not necessary. Although he was right in taking a point from Maidana.
Overall Khan had every advantage available to him plus the supposedly best coach in the world (BS), a helping ref on his side, and not only had tons of problems, but he didn't finish strong.
If I was a well conditioned elite fighter at 140 or 147 I'd be licking my chops trying to get a fight with Khan because he seems ripe for the taking. He had joked around about a fight with Pacquiao..... he better keep dreaming.
Khan can only do well with a fighter that pauses a lot and gives him the time to breath.
Overall I give him a C+ for this performance.
Yeah I know he is young at only 24. But he isn't thaaaat young. He should be starting to come into his own and frankly this should have been a much easier fight than it was considering he could land at will.
Havent seen the fight but it seems you can never please people when you are a boxer, Before this we all wanted him to fight a puncher, Before this we all accuse him of ducking Maidana, Before this we all thought the first power punch landed on Khan would probably kill him.
Now he got in there drop the guy and got hurt but he knuckle down and got out with the W and we are still hard on the guy? The guy is 24 years old not a Mayweather, Khan is still learning and this is one reason why i dont give a toss about boxing fan.
We whine too much, We complain about the little things and had Maidana not got up in the 1st round we still would have been critising Khan because he wasnt tested..
Seriously fvck some boxing fan whose attitude is to look at anything negative...
I agree with this, let's f****ing give Khan his credit, Prescott got a lucky punch on a very young, very green Khan then, and we all said that Amir has glass jaw and will never survive a match against a pressure power puncher!!! Now the difference is Amir got the puncher down in round 1 and him although being hurt in round 10, had enough composure to stay up on his feet and enough heart to weather the storm... Amir is still very young, but with more experience his skills and punch resistance will improve dramatically...

Khan earned all of the hate he gets, and you'd know it if you ever heard the guy talk.

Get The F*ck Out of Here... khan's chin was a bit disappointing? how about khan's chin during the prescott fight?.. oh, khan's stamina and endurance may be in question... therefore, maidana's power may be in question too.. prescott flattened khan's ass in 1 round.. and khan made maidana touch his ass on the canvass on the 1st round...
thanks for supporting my arguement
i think your very wrong, give the fighters some respect.two young hungry fighters going for it and producing a great fight.khan was superb and is now right up there with the best.stop moaning and just ****ing enjoy the boxing.
we need more people who thinks like this... no offense to the mofo who started this thread.. :bottle:
I don't know.
Chelsea in the worst form for about 10-years, We don't look like we can pass a football at the moment, even Essien is looking awful. I'd be really surprised if we won. I think we might get a bit of a hammering. McEachran was our best player against Marseilles and he is what....7-years-old?
VDV is still injured.
Kahns chin was a bit disappointing. He's almost got everything down, but his stamina and endurance may be in question

I have to admit I was a bit disappointed as well. Yes, his chin held up but god did he get hit at will. A guy like Bradley/Alexander are so much more polished and faster that Maidana, they are going to land at ease. Sure, they don't hit as hard as Marcos but it usually is the punch that you don't see that hurts the most. I have my doubts that Khan can get through this division as top dog.
Khan will be more aggressive against them, felt like against maidana there was invitation to hit. Defo would see a different fight if he fought alex/tim
Is Van Der Vaart playing? Him and freak are a great partnership.
I actually think we'll win today. Spurs are just as inconsistent as us.

I had the fight close i think i might have even had it a draw if it wasnt for the point deduction. Khan's chin looks better than it did early in his career it was just terrible althoug he looked hurt on several times during this fight.
Before the fight everybody said that Khan would get beat against a pressure fighter with power like Maidana. So Khan does a job on him (and lets not be under any illusions, apart from2 mins in round 10 Khan was boxing MM head off for most of the fight) and now everyone says he'll lose against someone with speed and power. No doubt some people won't be satisfied until he KO one of Klitchkos.
You're under illusions. Two judges and myself had it 114-111 after the knockdown and point deduction. Don't try to minimize Maidana's success just to round 10. Both fighters had their moments nearly every round.
Khan fought the most RELENTLESS POWERFUL PUNCHER in the division and Top 5 Puncher p4p in BOXING. Maidana is the **** and we all knew it was going to Be a fight. The difference between the Prescott and Khan fight is that Khan actually stood on his feet this time.
This.
I think it's a resounding success. Khan took a beating. Who the f.uck thought Khan could take a beating.
There really are some terrible cunts on this forum.
Also, Chunk Spurs today. I fear we'll never win again. Gareth Bale vs Paulo Ferriera is like David Haye vs Audley Harrison.

I'm glad Khan got taken to the trenches cause it proved once and for all that Khan has Heart, toughness and mostly importantly of all, punch resistance. The chin was never as bad as most would have you believe, but people wanted to see this 'new' Khan in with a puncher to see it to believe it.
You saw it, and Khan passed the test.
