Victor Ortiz has so much talent, he has great head movement, it's a shame, he just doesn't have boxing instinct in his brain.... Freddie Roach would be a PERFECT fit for Roach, he'd be an absolute killer....who else thinks so?
I was thinking the same thing, if not Roach maybe Berestain. If Ortiz could counter and throw combos somewhat like Marauez, he'd definitely be a beast. He definitely needs a new trainer.
I know what you guys are saying but when I think of Roach training a fighter, I think of Ariza as apart of the package.
Roach gives them good habits in the ring and Ariza gives them the magic juice to make em strong and able to keep up the pace.
The fighters coming out of Roaches corner throw punches non stop and move their feet, heads, and bodies in the process, non stop, for 12 rounds.
You apply that to Ortiz and Vic would come out of the corner like one of the four horsemen of the apocalypse. Vic has a left hand with a fu ck load of power, he has a right hand with a fu ck load of power, he just only knows how to throw an effective straight left. With Roach Ortiz would more than likely learn how to use both his hands and utilize a beastly offense. That's just my opinion though.
Its not that simple...
The fact that he might have been more conditioned by Alex Ariza
that was the first fight i saw Jr in shape and focused. But i think that was more Ariza than Roach.

He was drained in my opinion. That's what it looked like.
He needs to go to 147 and needs a new trainer...If Danny Garcia cares for Ortiz' career he should mention getting a new trainer because there is no longer anything new that Danny can teach vic...Ortiz is a world class fighter in terms of conditioning and he listens pretty good to his corner...and someone needs to teach him how to throw a stiff jab...I think that the southpaw position with his power lead hand causes Ortiz to buckle forward when he throws it...he needs to stiffen it up...needs to bounce less because no one else in the LWW or WW hits as hard as Maidana except Pac...Ortiz needs to learn new combos...he's a combo type of fighter...Hire Nacho and move to 147!
All Roach's top fighters have a style where they throw quick combinations going in and out. He has speed, and he has power, so that style for him would be perfect if he could do it. Also, he needs to move up in weight.
Vic didn't look all that speedy tonite, maybe a shade above average speedwise...
ortiz was kinda outboxed by peterson.
its bad because ortiz looked SO much bigger then lemont...
You can be more definitive man... Nobody's gonna bite you... I got your back man... LOL
Truth be told, Ortiz was bigger than Lamont, same exact height, but 10-lbs heavier on fight night and truth be told, Lamont didn't kinda outbox Vic, HE DID OUTBOX VIC!
He won't b like PAC but he def needs better direction. Lamont's a good boxer but Ortiz could run over this dude if he was 100% mentally there. Chino fuked him up
As an Ortiz fan I'm disapointed...Man Vic what kind of **** is that? Bro I've stuck up for you in several situations and took **** for defending you...Ortiz has the physical talent to be something big...he hits harder than Khan!!! And he's pretty fast to...Ortiz seems very smart when it comes to landing combos, but in this fight he didn't do it that much...and when he did land combos Peterson was in BIG trouble...No lie though maybe Ortiz is not the best fighter when it comes to his defense skills but he also made Lamont miss...Ortiz needs to move to 147 and I guarantee you he will rehydrate to 158 or 160 as tonight he weighed in at 156...Ortiz can have Danny Garcia as an assistant trainer and he should hire freddy roach, Nazim Richardon, or Joel Diaz for a 147 debute...shoot I think that Nacho Barestein would even be better...he's not busy at all...That would be a dope corner...Barestein and Garcia and Hoss as a physical conditioner...
He was drained in my opinion. That's what it looked like.
Freddie isn't all that great. Its funny all the praise freddie's gotten as of late only because of Pacquiao.
Victor Ortiz needs someone like Rudy Perez, or maybe even a Daniel Zaragoza as trainer. Someone who knows how to mold a fighter of his relative body type into a fighter.

You're acting like you didn't see what he did with Chavez Jr. That chubby ass bum came out in that Duddy fight with a six pack and the stamina after a career of having neither
The fact that he might have been more conditioned by Alex Ariza (he is the conditioning coach for Roach's most important fighters) isn't really what we are talking about here. Chavez might have been more conditioned but his fighting ability didn't really improve any. Duddy was a walking punching bag and Jr. did his job.
Now if you are talking about a marked improvement, maybe Jr. should only fight under the tutelage of Olivaritos Morales, because the one time Chavez Jr. really came into his own with his body type and fighting ability was the time he trained alongside Erik Morales. His footwork was good, his movement was good. Sure he had another punching bag in front of him but he was clearly fighting much better. It all went down from there since it was a one time deal.

u know how many years it took Roach to get where manny is today?
lol its too late for Ortiz. he's still a good fighter and he's still young, i think he can improve n be very good,.
but to think he can reach pacman status. nah dude.
Why is this kid being compared to PacMan? Please explain this to me? SMH

thig guy Ortiz lacks Mexican...LOL
I loled.
He is missing that vigor and ability to break other guys down like you're used to seeing in other Mexican fighters.
Also now that I think about it Ortiz is the first Mexican fighter that I have ever seen that didn't have that signature body punch.
