HBO Boxing: Khan vs. Maidana & Ortiz vs. Peterson RbR Discussion!

Respect for your comments. I gained a hell of a lot of respect for Maidana even more so after the way he just does not give a f'uck about anything that is going on and he will just come forward all night long. He did make me laugh with his reaction after the body shot but he got the hell up and almost got the KO. What a fight. Khan better thank Ariza because those legs were shaky than a mofo at the end of 10. I was more worried about Freddie in all this cos he was talking about Amir being the next Manny and all that but his chin is still suspect and if he meets a fast puncher like Berto then it could be lights out for Amir. haha yeah, everything about maidana reminds me of mickey from snatch. from the don't give a fuck attitude, the power, the heart, the guts, to the way he sits on the stool in between rounds. he's really a character. http://img837.imageshack.us/img837/7973/mickeysnatch.jpg

great job by Khan. have to hand it to him, but he did have a tough time finishing Maidana when he had the chance early and it cost him bigtime. maidana gained momentum and he even had a brilliant moment where he mocked Khan. the big shot came and i thought Khan was in trouble enough for some refs to call it but Cortez did seem to favor Khan at times. Maidana was having success on the inside and was trying to punch out but the ref was always there to step in when he seemed to have the opportunity. Still, Khan outboxed him, showing crisp combos and a great footwork, he will be tough for anyone to beat but punchers like Maidana will always test that chin. Bradley whoops them both IMO.

LOL at all the haters blaming cortez. Maidana is probably the dirtiest fighter ever non stop rabbit punching, elbows, instead of tapping gloves at the start he went for khans head! Khan won that fight, it could have been an early night 2 if khan went for the BODY! Anyway, this fight shows Khan has a good chin lol he took about 20 shots to the chin and never was dropped. I don't see anybody beating him at 140... says the guy that has hatton and haye in his av. Haye makes Sam Peter's rabbit punching look civil.

maidana is a terminator, no doubt in my mind. big props to amir for surviving in there with a beast. i knew khan had the speed and ring generalship to put up a clinic but, more importantly, i was impressed how his chin held up and held his ground, he did everything he was supposed to do against this fucking cyborg. amir undoubtedly won this fight but somehow, i'm an even a bigger fan of el chino now. dude scares the shit out of me. no one could've survived that body shot. . ive said maidana and khan are the best at 140 I agree, bradley and alexander are fighting for the 3rd place next year.the winner should fight khan and the loser should face maidana

Let's not pretend that Khan is perfect, because he is not. But tonight showed his talents, skills and abilities, and he also displayed his ability to take punishment and continue. He is a quality fighter who is championship quality. I get the hate, but everybody needs to relax. exactly , he's a work in progress not a p4p threat but far from the glass jawed hypejob most haters though him to be great fight that proved khan's heart and determination and reinforced maidana's

Khan showed a lotta heart to survive that 10th round...I was impressed...still flawed but he can improve... If he knew how to tie someone up he wouldn't have taken as much punishment...

Props to Kahn for winning by UD... As I have been saying for quite sometime now, he has good chin. However, there is ample room for improvement in the defensive skills dept. Khan got easily overwhelmed by Maidana just by throwing flurry of punches while coming forward.

I was surprised, if Maidana hits Bradley or Devon with the same punches they'll go down, especially Bradley who was dropped twice against Holt...would love to see a rematch between Maidana vs Kotelnik Yea man. Khan and Maidana both really impressed me in this fight. I'm an Amir Khan fight and I honestly feel that they both won this fight. They both showed heart and will. Fight of the Year no doubt. Khan is number 1 and Maidana is number 2 in this division. Bradley-Alexander would both get knocked down by Maidana. Let's not forget Ortiz went down many times against Maidana. Khan didn't touch the floor at all. I hope Maidana gets a better trainer. Someone like Roach would be perfect although I doubt that will happen.

After tonight, I'm pretty sure that Maidana beats Ortiz any day. Let's see Ortiz-Maidana II, Judah-Mabuza, Peterson-Kotelnik, and Khan-winner of Bradley/Alexander!! :boxing: hopefully all those fights happen in 2011 Khan is very beatable though, I think any fighters who are just as fast if not faster can beat him and that Chin is still weak, he basically RAN when he got rocked

Really scared? How does a scared person dominate a fight then? Maidana as predicted got his one shot in, but Khan widstood it and and held on. That's a sign of a true champian, I can see Khan unify the division from here. you do realize maidana was tired when he hurt him his will carried him the rest of the fight thats why hes a champion and just by reading from what the fans are saying he has won way more fans over then khan has after tonight but i do agree khan would beat alexander and bradley hes just to long and they dont have the power. ive said maidana and khan are the best at 140

Congratulatons to Amir.....clearly better than Maidana. The only criticism I have is AMIR needs to jab. The combinations are there, everything is there. He needs to keep Maidana at bay by jabbing. Other than that, he is awesome in his fast combinations. Aside from a consistent jab, he needs more head movement and feints, to set up his power shots...
