What the hell is going on? He was nominated with REAL contenders like Mike Tyson & Julio Cesar Chavez. Sr.......

"Tuesday’s announcement of the Boxing Hall of Fame Class of 2011 featured some household names, led by the always-controversial Mike Tyson".
What are your thoughts on this subject.
Funny how there is so much more outrage for Stallone getting into the HOF when there was 3 years ago when they enshrined Jose Sulaiman, a guy whose organization sanctions fights and ranks fighters based on how much bribe money they receive.
jesus f*n christ.. people here are either just plain dumb or no brain at all... ok, let me educate you dumb f*cks... Boxing Hall of Fame inductees are named or being named in five categories:
1. Modern : last bout not later than 1943
2. Old-Timer : last bout no earlier than 1893, no later than 1942
3. Pioneer : last bout in or prior to 1892
4. Non-Participant : those who have made contributions to the sport apart from roles as boxers or observers. Based upon a candidates achievements and contributions in their particular field.
5. Observer : print and media journalists, publishers, writers, historians, photographers and artists.
its from the website of BHOF.. your already on the net while posting your stup!d and idiotic replies.. why not bother to check it out before making yourselves stup!d...so there you go, do i have to explain further or your pea-sized brains still don't get it?...
i agree with you ...
commentators, writers, trainers, etc can be voted in ... why not Sly?
Of course. Stallone doesn't go in as a boxer. It's not like he cost a real fighter a spot in the HOF.
boxing has become a joke..first the so called p4p #1 cherry picks weight drained damaged goods and he doesn't want to defend his titles against good opponents now this.
Exhibit B.
Im gonna go with yeah.
Do you have your concensus sheet to prove me otherwise?
If you can't see the differences between all three cases then there is no helping you.
In any regard.
yeah the guy who wrote and was the star of the most iconic boxing film of all time!
Sorry I thought it made perfect sense since you know the film won an Oscar and has only been watched by every boxing fan who existed since the late 70's but oh yeah he has no reason to be in the Boxing HOF.

Ugh the fictional character Rocky despite his record held the fictional heavy weight title two times. He held it from 1979-1982 until he lost it by KO. He then regained the title that same year and his second title reign was from 1982-1985 when he retired.
I stand corrected!

Do people still remember that De Niro played La Motta?
Do people still remember that Smith played Ali?
Do people still think of Stallone as Rocky?
Im gonna go with yeah.

A lot of idiots around here are having knee jerk reaction.
They hear that a non boxer is getting in and go full retard.
Then they start trolling.
Yeah, but whats sad is that this is basically what everybody is talking about today. On ESPN radio Collin Cowherd went on for 20 minutes about how stupid boxing fans are to complain about this, which then led to him bashing the sport for corruption over the years and the whole "boxing is dying" nonsense.
All the while, nobody even mentions Tyson or Chavez. The story is just "look how stupid boxing fans are". I never understood why people get so touchy over the sanctity of Hall of Fames. Every sport has people in the HOF who somebody doesn't think should be there. Get over it, lol...
Absolutely.
Stallone has done a great deal for promoting the sport with those movies and also with the Contender series. If Abbott and Costello can be in the Baseball Hall of Fame, and we can have other writers/broadcasters in the HOF, I don't see what the problem with this is.

Tyson has forgotten more about boxing than you will ever know.
So I'll ride with Iron Mike on this one.
Absolutely.

Im assuming wil smith and deniro will be inducted too?

raging bull should be in it too
Jake Lamotta is already inducted, though with the current forum uproar with Sly getting in it should only be fair Gatti should be inducted as well…
