Mexico- has no problem selling out arenas with Saul Alvarez and other fighters and Boxing is embedded in their culture.
Ireland- My parents are from there and they sell out stadiums easily with Andy Lee and John Duddy
Germany- Wladimir Klitschko packs Soccer Stadiums.
England- Ricky Hatton, Joe Calzaghe, and Amir Khan had no problem packing stadiums.
Canada- Lucian Bute, Jean Pascal, and David Lemieux can all pack houses.
Pacquiao vs. Margarito was two foreign fighters. Why cant American fighters draw big fan bases?
Boxing needs to do a big Event Once A Year for Network TV in which Top Promoters come together and match up some of their Top Fighters
The TV Revenue from Commercials Alone...WOULD BE HUGE! every Sport Have their 1 Big Annual Event like the Super Bowl or a All Star Game...BOXING don't have that which is why nobody gives a sh!t about Boxing in America, Events like that is what help Develop SUPERSTARS
I would love to see Dibella, Goossen, Shaw, Top Rank, Golden Boy Promotions get together once a year for a Mega Card...but it will never Happen...because of GREED!
Not too many Americans follow boxing, it simply lacks popularity. I have two friends that watch boxing and they are in their mid forties and have been fans of the sport since their childhood. My other friends that are closer to my age (30 -40) do not watch or follow boxing, they prefer baseball, basketball, and football. I have one friend that follows the UFC and I think it is mainly due to him being a martial artist.
boxing is barely a Top 10 Sport in America, Mayweather is the only American Fighter people care about, most people in America probably couldn't even name you 5 American Boxers right no, it has nothing to do with "Race" or style in the ring or having Power and getting KO's or any of that, it is the serious lack of Charisma and the Ability to grab the attention of the Casual fans, Mayweather is able to do it and Oscar was one of the BEST at doing it
Boxing need more guys to get BOLD and not be afraid to say what is on their Mind like Ali did, like Tyson did, like Hopkins does and like Mayweather does, crazy comments and controversy does get the Casual Fans attention
Skills in the ring is not the problem, many of these younger American Fighters just don't have much Charisma, outside of the Boxing Communities on Youtube and on these Boxing Forums...NOBODY is talking about Boxing, Sports Radio Shows in America...NEVER talk about boxing...unless it is about Mayweather or Pacquiao
American fans want to see men rendered fully unconscious by giant men
they want fast paces
damage
they are fair weather fans of fights and not boxing
it helps if the fighters are american as well
the perception is that boxing is everything but what americans are looking for (which it certainly can be)
coupled with the lack of a dominant american heavyweight
leads to a lack of ticket sales in the states
that being said boxing needs its biggest fight to happen
boxing fans have exhausted the talk of a pacquiao and mayweather fight
the rest of the world only cares about that one fight
the effect of that fight (especially if it's a good one) will reverberate
And you should've stopped right here.
In America, you have to pay U.S. Dollars and a hefty price at that.
In Mexico, they pay pesos. The cost of a nose-bleed sectioned seat America would be enough to buy a front row ticket in Mexico.
You've failed to mention boxers have to start from scratch even if by all means on a run down selling cheap tickets.unless u have a gift last name like julito's (who doesn't take an advantage of) then its gonna take a while to fill seats.truthfully it all comes down as to how well your promoted and consistency in wins.

Pacquiao vs. Margarito was two foreign fighters. Why cant American fighters draw big fan bases? They do, they're just playing football or basketball when they do it...
All the boxing stars/talent are in other high paying sports.
My guess is the reason predates the sanctioned era... when back alley brawls on poorly constructed rings were a pice of shady business... then when the body arrived to take control of the game, it bacame a betting station and blood pays for the mafia and controlled vices. Helps when you do a read on the history... but that is just me....
All i say is the shady connections pertaining to loose betting and fixed matches have a big hand in giving the game a rough image to be even worthy of having a poster hung on a schoolboys Forbes level university dorm. Admit it.
Even with todays "clean" standards, most followers who follow the sport tends to break into the norm of "underhand" theories because of lapses in judges score or in matches falling out of favor to the clear loser who eventually wins.
Again thats just me and my opinion... but all other aspects of reason is already discussed here.... so that is my take...
What people don't realize about Americans is that when it comes to boxing we don't root for fighters on a nationwide level.
Much like with football, basketball and baseball American's interest in specific fighters is geographic and not very far reaching.
The average American who loves basketball and the Detroit Pistons isn't going to fly to Los Angelas to watch the Lakers vs the Kings just because he thinks the players are great, he's gonna stay at home and watch his Pistons.
Yeah Germans can sell out a huge arena... because of the Klitschkos. I wonder how many tickets the Germans would buy if the fight was Andre Ward vs. Allan Green
Because America is dominated by baseball, basketball and football.
Yeah this is basically why. Even Hockey next after the big three in America. But I feel Soccer is the biggest sport in the world and I really think Boxing is the second biggest sport internationally.
It has to do with ticket prices and also location. Also there are so many good boxers in America. In those other countries they only have like 1 or 2 elite fighters so the country gets behind them because of the lack of talent in the country.
Because americans are too busy watchin UFC. (lame!)
I dont know any of my friends or anyone from school who is a fan of that. All my friends are just too big of fans of american football, basketball, baseball, and soccer.
floyd can.
a lot of people watch his fight... they want to see him get beaten. That should count?
Yeah Floyd can.
I think stadiums can be filled out and do get packed for boxing in America but it is foreign fighters who are doing it like Pacquiao, Cotto, Margarito, soon to be Alvarez, Khan.
It just seems American fighters have an extremely hard time garnering a fan base.
