Ill tell you why.
1. Cotto does well as the agressor.
2. He has a mean/sharp/crisp/well timed jab. That could be "The factor"
3. If he establishes the jab , whch I think he will. Body work comes in easier.
4. Martinez will not pressure him. And Cotto is a very patient ,very effective fighter that doesnt waste many punches. Martinez will dictate the pace , But Cotto will dictate the Action. Hope I made my self clear.
Dont let Martinez's recent win over P.Will fool you. P.Will is not a smart fighter. He did not use his reach. He got caught with a over left hand. Which he didnt prepare much for , considering that punch was very effective in their first fight. He was coming in sloppy. With his hands down.
Cotto can change stance as needed. And he can jab with either hand , almost as good.
Did anyonme notice his jab in the foreman fight. And his balance.
I think those are keys for ther fight.
I always say this.
People forget that Cotto has been able to adjust to other fighters with great handspeed. Martinez has good movement but he still gets hit way too much.
In a way im interested in this fight.
im going for my countrymen even though the odds are stacked.unlike some other hispanics i know that abandon theres and complain lol
Very hard for him to do it but this is boxing. Martinez at 155 won't be as strong and he does keep his hands down open for jabs(a cotto benefit). I think it will be Martinez dcn but it could go either way. Love this fight. lets get it on
Even before the P-Will fight before the Cintron I have been confident that Martinez beats Cotto. No the style does not favor Cotto, the size mismatch does not favor Cotto, this is not Yuri foreman here man.
And, look at the Cintron fight again if you think if that crap was a draw. Martinez was robbed twice in that fight. The only way Cotto wins is if Martinez is robbed.
Martinez will be meeting Cotto 1 lb over the super middleweight divsion. Cotto comes in over 160lbs anyway it wont be as much of a difference. Cotto has age on his side as well, if martinez keeps moving up and down at his age hes likely to start slowing down.
I didnt think the cintron fight was a draw, but the judges obviously did. I was just giving an example of a recent fight where martinez didnt look as impressive fighting a fighter who doesnt stand in front of him asking to get hit
Thank you. Who wrote earlier that cotto is a better boxer than Sergio? Did I read that right.
yes, even quintana was a better boxer than sergio.....:boxing:
yeah I saw that too. Pretty stupid
But Cotto is by far a better boxer than Cintron. Has more heart , more skill , more technique. And is smarter. I think Cotto might have to switch it up fight southpaw for a little bit.
Work that Jab.
Somebody said Cotto wont win 1 round?
I think he might be toto short tho.
But I like his chances.
Agreed. These guys dont analyze they conclude. NSB has become one big joke after another.
Some people said Cotto couldnt win a round. Ridiculous.
Sergio was forced to fight Williams, Again this style favors Cotto.
You guys are jizzing all over the Paul Williams win and arent recognizing that Cotto is still a great tough fighter

:haha: :haha:
I don't even think it is even worth debating if that is what you truly believe.
Oh wait.......Are you saying Sergio Martinez will get robbed? I mean if Cotto somehow last the distance and gets a gift decision then yes he can win. And, that is the only way he wins.
Because, he can not beat Martinez straight up.
Neither could Cintron BTW if you were serious.

You have got to be kidding. Did you even watch that fight?
I did and I definitely saw that martinez gave cintron a lot of space. To beat Cotto you have to pressure. If Cotto is given time he can be tough to beat.
Its a great match up which I feel at 155 if 50/50
IF Cintron can draw against Martinez, Cotto can pull off a win with the right preparation
:haha: :haha:

He's not Pernell Whitaker though and can be hit, repeatedly.
Nobody is pernell whitaker but Pernell whitaker, All im saying is that if Cintron can hang in and pulla draw Cotto can win
He's not Pernell Whitaker though and can be hit, repeatedly.

Everyone can be hit, but Cotto wont be as easy to find. hell pacquiao could find Cotto but he had trouble doing so until Cotto went blow for blow with him
I honestly don't believe Cotto can win a round let alone the fight.
IF Cintron can draw against Martinez, Cotto can pull off a win with the right preparation
I also feel if Cintron had success, Cotto being a superior fighter with just as much power could do the same.

i think its 50/50
Martinez did look great in KOing Paul Williams but Paul williams is a huge target there to be hit, he almost asks for punishment. Cotto is more of a technician that utilizes much better footwork and a much more evasive boxing style.
