Is that the reason why the fight takes place in Vegas?
Has Con ever worn 8oz gloves in a fight since the Prescott demolition job?
I was about to place a bet on Maidana but if they wear 10oz gloves it will slow him down and makes it alot easier for Con to defend his glass jaw and decreases Maidanas power as well
Mayweather-Mosley 8 oz gloves

that's not standard though
both sides agreed to 8s for that fight
trust me I deal with both Top Rank and Golden Boy for their Vegas shows and I always run into this type of an issue
yes it is
Nevada's default size is 10oz for any fight 135lbs and up
both sides have to agree to using 8oz gloves for any fight 135 140 or 147 for them to be allowed to use 8s
I have been told Khan's people want 10s Maidana 8s
A.K.A roach. He protectin the glass.
Yet for manny's fights, its the opposite ...
Which is pretty logical considering the matchup and considering it's 10oz gloves by default in Nevada anyway I find it ridiclous that some people call it cheating or cowardly. I mean what do you guys expect? That Khan was suddenly gonna ask for 8oz gloves? Come on now.
well to be fair most fights I glove in Nevada that are 135 140 or 147 the fighters ask for 8oz gloves
Khan is well within his right to not say anything and have Nevada default to 10 but with the rule change it's not the norm
Exactly. Wasn't that fight a prolonged beating? Fights like Marg/Pac are a lot worse for a guy than Hatton/Pac.
I just came back from Thailand where I watched a lot of Muay Thai. Most fights ended in a big KO - but those guys had literally had couple hundred fights, so most of those guys have been knocked out at least 20 times (if your good) - their as right as rain and completely with it.
One fighter even showed me to seat on my entry, got brutally knocked out, and said goodbye to me and my girlfriend when we left, to be fair he was a little wobbly by then - but still. An early KO is fine.

That's not enough to stop Maidana from landing a hard enough punch to KO khan if he has the glass jaw a lot of people think he does.
agreed but this was a result of the Johnson Chavez fight.
some like myself theorize that having 10oz gloves on smaller fighters may actually be worse because there won't be as many quick knockouts and more of a sustained beating

I hate that rule. 10 oz. gloves on 140 pounders? just seems so unnecessary.

The norm is fighters have the option to choose 8oz or 10oz gloves. It's not 10oz by default.

10 ounce gloves is what is required in nevada for any fights over 135.
it's been like that for years.
2 years ago they made an exception that it can be 8 only if both sides request it. (margarito-cotto , both fighters wanted 8)
so actually fighting with 10 oz. is the norm.
fighting with 8 has to be requested.
and to confirm what's being said
I had to send three pair of Red MX gloves in each size (8 and 10) for Maidana to wear
seems like Maidana wants 8s but Khan's team are balking
If Con had a glass jaw, then an extra 2 ounces shouldn't be a big deal.
Unless you're just scared to place the bet like a real man.
spoken like someone who hasn't seen the difference between 8 and 10oz gloves
it's not necessarily the weight moreso than the size
noticeably bigger more specifically wider
He didn't choose 10oz gloves. 10oz gloves is the norm for that weightclass in Nevada.
