Why do people root for fighters just because yall from the same country? I just don't understand that. It's called being proud of your countrymen. I wasn't much of a Tito fan, but always wanted him too win. As for Cotto he is a warrior that fights anyone. That's the #1 reason why I root for him. I also am a fan of: Sergio Martinez (even before the huge P.Williams KO) Mayweather (since I recognize his skills) Mosley (even if some of yall think he is an old washed-up grandpa)

i'm a big fan of cotto and martinez....i think sergio wins this fight though if it does end up happening. cotto's resume is loaded already and adding martinez on it will just make it even better. cotto is respectable, doesnt talk trash, doesnt duck any fighters he just goes out there and fights. dont know how any boxing fan couldnt like him. Cotto is the real deal. He is what all boxers should be. He does not need excitement out of the ring to provide excitement in it. He is humble, respectful and honorable. In answer to others, I am not 'hating' on any particular fighter right now. I get trash talking, and it can be intriguing, even funny, but it can also go too far. I get angling to get a fight made to your advantage...but I FAR prefer it when people fight straight up. That is why Cotto is the real deal to me. For me it is less about skill (though he DOES have skill) and more about character. Few fighters have that kind of character anymore. I have to agree. I mean May has great skills, but his @ssholeness gets to me sometimes. I mean that's why so many boxing fans want to see the May/Pac fight...to see if Manny can finally put him away.

I was just hinking that the other day...He is a warrior. Hes never had trouble stepping up to the plate.

cotto was the one that said he would fight pac at 145lbs tho IIRC, that was after considerable pressure was applied, including the threat of stripping him of his belt. Pretty pathetic of the sanctioning body, I think. I wonder what compensation they got for pulling that stunt.

At least he showed up...there are some still on vacation. :fu2: That's what bugs me about Floyd. When you mention his name against other fighters, it's easy to reply with he would have beat them easily, instead of he did beat them easily. Cotto may have lost his 2 biggest fights, but at least we know he actually fought those guys. And his career isn't over. I could see Cotto going on to accomplish a lot more in his career. I would love to see Cotto challenge Martinez. He'd be the heavy underdog.
