Audley Harrison "anyone could see it was a premature stoppage"

Audley speaks. Audley Harrison has decided to carry on fighting despite last month's pathetic defeat by David Haye. The 2000 Olympic gold medalist was granted an unlikely shot at Haye's WBA heavyweight title on November 13 only to capitulate completely, barely throwing a punch before being stopped in the third round. But the 39-year-old said in a statement on Wednesday: "After spending some time away reflecting on the fight and outcome, I have made the decision to continue my journey in boxing and carry on my career as a professional." He added: "The David Haye experience had many highs away from the ring and I'm happy I had a great training camp and worked with two of my brothers again in camp. "I surrounded myself with a world-class team and pushed myself to the limit in training and left my changing room knowing I had given my all to get to this point. "The outcry from the fight is expected as I didn't get the result I wanted and the critics have once again tried to bury me under the rubble and hope I disappear. All I can say is I had a game plan and went into the ring to win. The way the fight ended was frustrating to me as I didn't get going and was just settling into my rhythm. "Both styles of feinting and moving was off-setting the both of us in the first two rounds and I was just zoning in on his rhythm when he got through. "I'll never be 'crash-bang-wallop' and I'm glad about that; my style is unique but can run into problems like all styles can and I got caught by a good set of punches to go down. "I give David credit as I never expected him to hurt me as he did, but anyone could see it was a premature stoppage and I should have been allowed to carry on and ride out the rough patch, even if that meant I would have got KO'd."

I'm trying hard not to take the piss. The man definetely has problems. He should just pat himself on the back and be glad that against all reason he has made a millonnaire out of becoming a boxer. He shouldn't try and justify himself - he's not capable of it in practical terms. There are actually a lot of British domestic Heavyweights that will wipe the floor with him, too. I don't know who he is planning on fighting. He needs too retire,for his sake.Go see a doctor and go back to his plush home and enjoy his (NOT!) hard-earned money Id hate too see fans duped into anything ridiculous aagain,harrison doesnt deserve another penny from anyone

If you look at the audley v haye fight compared to the olden day fights it was stopped prematurely. It is a different sport to then. Even though the sport is a lot safer already without needing the premature stoppages to ad to it. Haye showed he can hurt Audley but the ref never gave Audley a chance to recover and attack and thats when things would get interesting. Haye is chinny himself and if he went head first into attack he would likely get caught and it would make for an interesting fight. But many of hayes fights are prematurely stopped. Haye is good at initially getting you into trouble. The ref must allow the fight to continue or fights will always be stopped prematurely with no spectacle for the viewers.

I agree, Audley got shafted big time. He was just about to throw a punch for the first time in 3 rounds. Fucking biggest robbery of the year. Seriously. Anyone who knows boxing knows it takes Audley a few rounds, but once he gets going, boy he can throw those four jabs a round.

The scientific excuses this guy comes out with is pathetic, To get a chance at this sort of level and not throw a single punch? A domestic fight, a southpaw stance, a world title that he doesnt deserve, the constant berating he gets from us the british public and he couldnt even motivate himself to throw a punch???
