This ain't going to no decision...Peterson is easy to figure out...his punching power is "ok", his hand speed is "ok"...he's not really that slick...the only thing that makes him a good opponent for Ortiz is that he hasn't been KO'd, he's young, not a ruined fighter, and his only loss is to the best ranked 140 pounder...while Ortiz' loss is to the most hardest puncher wayyyy above average power in the 140 division...IMO Ortiz' style has become more of a slick/patient boxer with power that applies pressure when the time is right...he bops and weaves and sticks his jab out there while peterson has a Paul Williams type of style...but I expect the patient/cautious/power punching Ortiz to destroy Peterson in less than 5...
The match-making for Ortiz has been awful but that's what Goldenboy is notorious for. Vic is either in too easy or he's in for a surprise. It's either one or the other for him. It's a dysfunctional growth in the ring when you do that to a fighter. Ortiz isn't going to get the proper preparation from his handlers and never has since he left Top Rank so it's up to him to mentally prepare. If he's ready to work and adjust mid-fight when and if the situation arises he'll be alright. If not he's going to be forced to learn something new again. Peterson is going to show him something new and if Ortiz can handle this test and pass this test than I'd say he's ready for the sport.
Shouldn't be the other way around?
Maidana needs to man up and give Ortiz a rematch, however he might lose to Khan.
Here is a quote from Marcos Maidana at the post fight press conference.
“I wasn’t surprised by Ortiz’ style. I’ve seen videos of him and I knew that he a warrior but I was ready to after him,” the quiet Maidana stated confidently as his large entourage cheered him on. “This was the toughest fight I have ever been in, against the strongest and toughest fighter I have faced so far in my career. Although I was knocked down, I had to fight for my family back in Argentina. I would be more than happy to give him the rematch since I know how to fight him now.”
Maidana offered Ortiz a rematch. Ortiz ducked Maidana and fought a washed-up Antonio Diaz instead. Then, he fought a guy who had already lost 8 times after Diaz.
Peterson cannot hurt Ortiz...he isn't even half the puncher that Maidana is...If you can't hurt Ortiz he will beat you...Plus Peterson was wobbled by BRADLEY!!! FEATHER FISTED BRADLEY!!! LOL How about an Ortiz punch? that equals a KO for sure...
Lamont Peterson beat Lanardo Tyner.
The same guy who destroyed Antwone Smith.
That guy can punch at 147.

I wouldn't call him feather fisted.
ala: Spinks, Malinaggi, Yuri Foreman, Zuri Lawerance.
He can be explosive and he usually hurts his opponent or knocks them down.
He hits a little harder than Clottey.
Desert storm lacks KO's because hes a horrible finisher.

He gave Maidana a shot
Maidana should return the favor
And whether u consider Maidana not OWING him or not, if Maidana never fights him again, it simply means Maidana's scared. When ur scared to fight someone u beat into submission, and the person u beat into submission wants a rematch... It just doesn't make sense.
They weren't giving Maidana anything.
Keep in mind Ortiz was supposed to be the next GoldenBoy - they just wanted a slugger he would look good against for this first headline show.
Maidana was just coming off a questionable loss and they made the mistake of putting Ortiz in deep waters with a guy that could bang.
Peterson's punching power is not impressive, and his style is to fight on the inside. He's not really a boxer. He gets within punching distance of Ortiz, he will get KO'd. And that's ignoring the possibility he has a weak Jaw (didn't say glass, but getting hurt by Bradley certainly doesn't mean u have a strong jaw) simply becuz Ortiz can knock u out no matter what ur jaw can do. As long as Ortiz knows this, he should win by KO. If he chooses to stick and move than that's when Peterson could end of giving him trouble.
Did you watch the peterson bradley fight.
Ortiz aint KOin sh1t. he might f^ck around and get stopped his self.
I don't think Bradley is overrated
but you know what I would give you a 100K points if that happens
so if Ortiz destroys Lamont would that mean Bradley is overrated

he always does that it gets them to step forward with their jab which is what most trainers want to see you do rather than flick your jab out
Thanks for the explanation.
Why is he jabbing so high? Is Lamont that tall?

I wouldn't say Vic had to go 12 rounds with Nate. It's more like he chose to be careful and boxed and moved. In his last fight he went for it and looked very fast and strong. Depends on the mental approach that he brings into the ring. With Maidana being on the card I think he's going to go for making a statement. I've got him stopping Peterson late
against Vivian Harris who literally went down with every clean punch landed
huge difference
people are seriously sleeping on Lamont and I would not be surprised in the least if he gives Ortiz serious issues
I think the fact that shot Demarcus Corley did much better than Ortiz did against Maidana is proof that Ortiz is not as good as people make Oritz out to be.
Shot Corley did not do better with Maidana than Ortiz. Ortiz was winning the fight, got 3 knock downs, despite not fighting the right fight. Also taking into mind the Maidana that fought Corley was a poorly trained Maidana (he was exhausted early in the fight), while the Maidana that fought Ortiz was probably the best Maidana ever.
What???
Maidana beat him into submission. He doesn't owe him anything. That's like saying Pacquiao owes Cotto a rematch.
