I have to say...the people who are maintaining how close the Marquez fight was...no. It really wasn't that close after the knockdown. Marquez mostly nullified Katsidis' left after that and made him rely on his far less intelligent right hand and it simply looked closer than it was if you weren't paying attention to the actual blows landed and how they landed. Marquez FAR out-landed Katsidis in flush shots and was controlling most of the fight and deserved most of the rounds. It simply wasn't that close. I'm in no way saying Katsidis didn't land some good shots after the KD, that he didn't take a round or two or that he's not still a good, top name lightweight, but I say the fight wasn't what it appeared to some as far as competitiveness.
Man Kat lost every round other then the 3rd
He is a guy you just cant hate but he is not on that level
i agree.
****, i even thought he lost the third, except for that KD.
as far as kats not being on marquez's level, there is only one or two who r.
so considering that, i think michael did a damn good job.
i think kats can beat the rest at that weight, but that right hand that he throws needs to be corrected or it will make it difficult for him.
i still think michael should have swarmed marquez immediately after the knockdown. marquez was pretty hurt. there is every chance the ref would have stopped it. i know marquez can obviously recover from hard shots, but he was struggling for a bit after he got back up.
Kats kept coming forward, and kept throwing a lot of punches, but JMM was exceptional, kept making him miss/blocking his shots and landing clean counters.
Great perforamnce from JMM, great effert from Kats. JMM is just on another level.
Kastidis problably has the biggest heart out there, and problably trains twice as hard every fighter in the world, but its just not skillfull... has a lack of good reflexes. in the pro ranks at least.
After the Diaz fight and before the Marquez fight, I started to rate Kat's skills differently, see some things there that made me more appreciative of what he can do and what makes him a good fighter but while fighting Marquez, it made me see that the best can take away his best abilities and leave behind all the worst for everyone to plainly see. God, that right hand, the way he cocks his elbow...it takes the power right out of it. It's bizarre. What I'm saying, I guess, is that I understand what brought him to rumbling with the best couple lightweights of his time other than toughness but I can also see what's stopping him from becoming one of the best couple lightweights, on the top tier.
I agree Margarito deserved it, but not from Pac. From Cotto, yes. Margarito did NOT deserve to be beat by Pac, and do you know why? Because he didn't deserve to be in that high-profile fight in the first place, brother. Am I wrong?

I agree, I was caught up in thinking Marquez needed to keep his head protected just a little more... later on, I realized what looked good in Katsidis's flurries, were hitting Juan's gloves an awful lot. I like Katsidis as well, and he displayed much heart. But Marquez proved why he, at 37, is still one of the greatest active boxers alive, using science, counter-punching, and forward thinking to set traps and close the show. What a great fight!
A special shoutout should go to Kenny Bayless, who showed no hesitation to do the right thing, reminding us why he is the best in the business. Lawrence Cole could learn a thing.

Glad it's not just me that saw it that way here.
