The ones that have no clue about boxing...Pacquiao fights for the casual fans, the ones who cant name all the fighters. THey can only name the fighters Manny is up against...smh
I wonder what we call those casual fans?
Let's see
A casual fan who pretty much accounts for the majority of PPV buys
vs.
A so called "Real boxing fan" who streams everything come fight night, b1tches and moans about everything....and immediately call a fighter shot when he loses.
If Arum said this....can you blame him? In his mind he will cater to the people who put the most money in his pockets because he is a business man....you know a person who is out to make money.
I mean you can cry all you want but that's boxing for you. It's always been like this and only idiots think fighters/promoters and others aren't out to make the most money they can.
this is true, but it also hurts the sport.
we should have a UFC style business at least.

Arum and HBO call them 'money in the bank'.
Seriously, Bob did a 'f*ck you, kiss my a$$' to boxing fans and writers/followers of the sport and put on a master class of promoting and hype when he put together Pacquiao-Margarito. Most people thought it was a sham of a fight with a disgraced fighter who should've been banned for life- a guy who was destroyed, banned, fought a nobody and garnered only 12-15K PPV. Most predicted it would flop, sell much less or slightly more than the Clottey fight... and yet it did 1.2 million (and counting) buys because Arum flexed all his muscle- 24/7, 60 minutes, more mainstream exposure and turned sh*t into gold.
So obviously he knows he doesn't have to cater to real boxing fans, just has to put together a package that can get the most hype and exposure to the mainstream and casual fans. Mosley makes the most financial sense even though it's the worst possible pick of all the options that were out there. Marquez is second best as there's the built-in history. And obviously Berto and Martinez are unknown commodities and hard to sell to casuals, so they're out.
Boxing's a business and $ rules all. Sad but true. Arum has been around long enough to know what sells and what doesn't, it's strictly about making the most $ possible now and not giving a sh*t what hardcore fans and journalists think because in the grand scheme of things, their thoughts are irrelevant... Pacquiao-Margarito being exhibit A.
