I understand what you're trying to say, but if that were the case, Fernando Vargas would've been ATG.
I think there's a bit of a difference here.
Vargas was fed to the "lions" at an early age, and lost. Even Winky Wright arguably beat him at 147.
Ward is taming the 168 lions. Beat Miranda, Green, Kessler, and Bika. All very tough fighters who would beat a rookie.
Vargas' style is also head-on, come forward, brawling style. Ward reminds me a lot of a young dirty Hopkins who takes little punishment and does absolutely anything to win a fight. At 30 years old, with his style, Ward will still be 25 in boxing years.
If you think a little deeper and mention age.
At 26 years old, Ward has a better resume, than a 26 year old Froch and a 26 year old Bute.
They each have 4 more pro fights than Ward. In 4 more pro fights, Ward will fight Abraham, Froch, Johnson, possibly.
It speaks volumes that Ward only has 23 pro fights, is 26 years old, and is being compared with older guys who should trump his resume by more than what you showed in the OP.
In other words, he's somewhat way ahead of them if you think about it.
Totally agree with this post, people often forget that Ward is still pretty young. Damn I can't imagine what his resume will be when he'll turn 32. Bute will soon be 31 and Ward's resume is already better imo.
To answer the pool, Froch clearly have the best resume right now, this guy deserves a lot of respect, I hope the finale will be Froch-Ward, cant wait to see this fight.

Why do people list losses on resumes?
DeMarcus Corley obviously has the best resume:
L12 - Maidana
L12 - Alexander
L12 - Witter
LTKO5 - Cotto
L12 - Mayweather
LSD12 - Judah
All bow to the mighty DeMarcus Corley. Best resume in boxing.
So you're saying I shouldn't count Bute's KO loss to Andrade?
You take into account opponents faced, it's subjective, credit or discredit however you please.
If you're including Ried you should probably include someone like Zuniga for Bute.
Reid actually beat Brinkley before facing Froch, Zuniga hasn't really done anything.

Bute's is easily the worst resume.
He is feeding on Abrahams lefrovers and fighting Jesse Brinkley. Any SMW outside the super 6 is fighting D-level opposition.
I think Bute is the better overall fighter out of the 3.
I think Ward got the best win out of the 3. His win over Kessler is better than any one win that any of the other 2 fighters have.
I think overall resume from top to bottom. Froch is the best.
The Pascal win is looking pretty good right now, and if he beats Hopkins, it'll look even better. The Kessler win definitely looks good, since it was so one-sided and in the next fight he puts a loss on one of the resumes.
I think Bute is the better overall fighter out of the 3.

Agree with all of this.
When you list them like this though the depth and quality of their overall resume there isn't much between them even though people seem to enjoy trashing Bute's.
Hopefully he will start fighting some top SMW's now since he is with Showtime. I want to see Bute vs both these guys, Kessler too but not quite as much. Now 2007 Kessler vs today's Bute would have been tremendous.
I don't count losses. In that case then some journeyman is the GOAT.
Andre Ward is the best fighter of the 3. Because I think he beats them both. I think Bute beats Froch.

Froch is #1 going by resume.
best win is giving to Ward who should be the best fighter at SMW.
Bute seems ti impressive in his last fights, but against shot guys.
Bute has to prove something.
I think Bute is the better overall fighter out of the 3.
