he wasnt giving the thumbs down to jason, he was doing it to cab's promoter lou dibella who came up right beside jason as he was talking to emanuel..... he was showing his displeasure about celestinos performance. i thought it was great!
Oh that's what he was doing! I couldn't figure it out.
Yeah, I saw that while everyone was talking over here. Seemed like an *******.
Litzau just wanted a fist pound from the HBO crew and Larry just shook his head and gave him the thumbs down.
I usually like Larry, but many times his idea of a good fight requires blood to be splattered.

why did he give jason litazau two thumbs down when he went to larry merchant? what an *******

i love the fact that merchant has very high standards, the old fukker is hard to please.....but if the bastard is happy , you know damn well even the casual fans are happy.....larry pushes fighters to give their best, he's good for boxing!
stop the hate...katsidis somewhat brought up his brother's death before merchant asked the question. katsidis was talking about the difficult times he went through for this fight and that's the time larry pulled out the question. katsidis is a warriour and fights his heart out. anyone would be proud of him and larry knows it...he just want to give katsidis his time to pour his heart out for his brother.
It was the delivery, not what he delivered.
If he had worded it something more like, "I'm sure brother is very proud of the performance you gave tonight," and then given Katsidis some time to say thank you or what have you, this wouldn't even be a subject.
I don't think it was an inappropriate question nor was Katsidis upset he asked. Sure he was emotional, but it was a right time to bring it up now that the fight is over. Im sure Kats brother would be very proud, he give it his all
He gave Katsidis a chance to talk about and honor his brother.
This is boxing, not Oprah. Harden up you bunch of sissies
The question he asked him was the problem. "Do you think your brother would be proud of your performance?" what kind of fukkin question is that to ask a man whose brother just died and just lost a fight. It was like he was fukkin with him
He gave Katsidis a chance to talk about and honor his brother.

Hah. I guess people expect him to pull out his dentures and blow the boxers right there during the interview.
I think he was a little off his game, but I always love Larry Merchant.
What exactly did he say?
Everyone was talking and I couldn't hear
I caught the bit where he interrupted kats when he was having a moment over his bro which was kinda funked upHe asked him if he thought his brother would've been proud of his performance tonight and he started choking up.

Yeah, that's what I thought he was doing. He just didn't do a great job of it.
