Former middleweight boxing champion Kelly Pavlik has been in the Betty Ford Center in Rancho Mirage, Calif., since Nov. 4 for treatment of a problem with alcohol, the fighter’s father, Mike Pavlik, told Yahoo! Sports on Friday.
Kelly Pavlik entered rehab for alcohol for the second time this year.

The 28-year-old slugger’s boxing career is in doubt, said co-manager Cameron Dunkin, who said, “I don’t know if he’ll ever fight again.”
wow.dont know what to say on this 1.damn latino's cant control alcohol.smh
Funny enough I was going to make a thread about Pavlik today on how his career has gone so far downhill since he beat Taylor. I remember when he was KO everyone right left and centre.
Then things just went downhill for him, I hope he can get himself together and lace them up again but fame and money can change people a lot, He just need to get back to basis.
the article says he has a problem with beer lol.i gotta problem with beer but im not a world champ.i didnt even know you can in a rehab because of beer
Of course it happened after Pavliks greatest win, he was all high on life and decided to become a drunk. Doesn't sound realistic, I think it really happened after the BHOP fight. If Pavlik's life was getting so messed up after the 1rst Taylor fight than Taylor would have won the rematch.
well, when you think about it,he didnt look great in the taylor rematch,so its definitely a possibility that it started after taylor I
Good to see that steps are being made towards his rehabiliation.
I don't think he'll ever be able to come back and become a champion, he has had his time. It's probably best if he retires with his health in tact.
im not sure if he can make mw still, but if he can, that division is a wasteland.no reason he wouldnt be able to dominate, especially with martinez saying he only wants 2 more fights
he can beat alot of 168 guys also.him vs froch would be foty candidate
Pretty sad. It's all over at this point for Pavlik, he's done. I think the Martinez beating was the last straw for him to hit the bottle. Such a shame...
LUlz at the Jo cal comparisons. Y'all fools have been in nsb too long, you imagination is all fuked up.
I blame jack loew, kelly's just trying to get away from him and bang Lindsay lohan.
lmfao at hopkins destroyed Calzaghe's life and turned him to coke
Calzaghe Won. hopkins Lost. Calzaghe schooled and out-slicked this supposedly wiley slick african-american. hopkins embarrassed himself saying a white boy would never beat him and got out-classed one! LMFAO!! Calzaghe was long retired before he started to have a bit of fun..
Calzaghe retired on top - UNDEFEATED, hopkins has 5 LOSSES and still can't get out and has destroyed his legacy with his public ignorance and continues to embarrass himself on a daily basis.
Worst fight of the decade = hopkins vs. Jones II

I love how people cant take that B-Flop lost to Calzaghe! B-Flop spent the whole fight either lunging in with one punch and holding or lunging in with nothing and holding, hes going to ruin his career if he keeps fighting.
Good to see that steps are being made towards his rehabiliation.

Exactly. Ricky Hatton only really got ruined after Pacquiao demolished him, it was all minor before that.
Calzaghe went into coke mode also after Roy Jones and B-Hop tested that chin and sh1tty balance of his. The kid fought like a queer fighting his way out of spider webs and these two (more Hopkins than RJJ) gave him a run for his money early on. He even admitted that he felt his skills erode but it was the step up in fighting "Great" fighters (albeit old ones) that made him feel that way.
It always happens when great fighters don't look so great and feel beaten mentally.
calzaghe was destroyed mentally by the hopkins loss. his whole career he believed he was the superior fighter and when he finally got into the ring with a very past prime hopkins he was still shut down. he knows he lost that fight and with it his passion to box. so he retired because he knew he wouldn't ever be the great fighter he wanted to be and his life spiraled downward.
BHOP ruined him.
I loved how BHOP a "real" black guy schooled that Racist downsouth f@ggats head.. LMAO loved how he was tee'ing off on his milk dome.. :bottle: hahahaha whitebread
