Paul Williams After Rematch with Sergio Martinez Interview

I swear, Paul gets a lot of unwarranted hate. Anyway, to me, Paul isn't gonna be affected by this mentally. I think he'll come back strong. hes got a lot of work his best bet is 147 or 154 where he can take the power better this is probably better for him now hell be able to make some money cause people will think he is easy pickings

Honestly, he sounds okay. He was able to stand up and speak well enough after that shot, and I think it's way too early for people to even suggest he should retire....perhaps that fight is only a sign he shouldn't be fighting at middleweight, as he and others have suggested before...i dunno, I'll judge when his next fight arrives. For now, Paul should just take a few months off, recover and come back at a weight him and his team think is better for him at this point of his career. :boxing:

Williams should get a rematch soon, but not immediately. He should have one or two rebound matches, and then challenge Martinez again. Williams should consider a rematch with Cintron.

Second, I for the most part like Paul Williams, but i never liked the fact that he never successfully defended his titles. Because he never defended his titles i thought he was being a bit overrated.

This loss might've been the best thing for him. I bet he never drops his right while throwing a left again. Paul's offense is a thing of beauty. His defense on the other hand is/was attrocious, but thats what made/makes him exciting. Paul Williams is a FIGHTER, and we will see him again. It's funny how he's been saying he's a WW, and everybody's been ripping him for it, but we just saw him get starched by a full-fledged MW(Yes, Sergio is NOW a FF MW, not to mention Paul took the punches of a possible plaster-handed Margo for 12 rds and got the W). I dont see anyone commending Paul for champaigning out of his weight division for the past 2 1/2 years. So since I haven't seen anyone give Paul his props for that, I'll do it. Paul Williams will rebound, he's got alot of people rooting for him, and I'm rooting harder than I ever have rooted for him before.

Bottomline there should be NO hate on Paul. He aint make no excuses, and is ready and willing to get in there again with the very same man who starched him out in two. Plus he's willing to bring the fight like always. Paul Williams is a class act, and still one of my favorite Boxers. Amen. He's the anti-Allan Green. He'll be back and (hopefully) better because of this. Hell, it's the way the cookies crumbles sometimes, nuhmsayin. No shame losing to a top 3 p4p guy. I just hope he actually takes the chance to learn a lesson, and maybe consider working with Manny Steward.

He is humble in defeat and in wins. He respects all of his opponents. He'll fight anyone from 147-160, any style. There's literally no reason to hate on him. People who hate on him just wanna get Burner riled up, either that or they're not big fans of black fighters. Yeah, any hate for Williams is definitely a product of his fans and, more specifically, Burner. While I don't like Paul's style of fighting too much I am still a fan. He brings his all to every fight and never backs down from a challenge. If all fighters adopted that sort of attitude the sport would be a great deal better off.

To be honest I lost respect for him lately with declining the 2nd fight offer with Pavlik asking for 50/50 then Martinez catchweight demands and wanting more $$ than th MW champ..to fight for his belts. I'm glad he's OK. I was WooT! and then went Dayyum, is he dead, shoot, is he OK :bigeyes: Paul, you're a nice guy, you need to work on your defence, and don't lose yourself in there, you lost your composure and fell right into Martinez' trap, just like Cotto against Pac in that first knockdown. You'll be back, train hard, and focus on your D.
