Manny Pacquiao was not very impressive in both of his fights this year. Pacquiao fought Clottey who for some mysterious reason did not throw many punches as well as Shane Mosley's damaged left-overs in Margarito, who is not a very good fighter without his cheating advantage. Compare that to Sergio Martinez, who fought and beat Kelly Pavlik and Paul Williams.
Manny Pac not impressive????? Jeeez Tough crowd here i guess
Sexy Serg is a top class fighter p4p #3 - 5 IMO, probably 3.
fighters before my time ive saw on tape
Manny Pacquaio and Floyd Mayweather are two of the best fighters i have EVER seen and that includes

being in the top means a series of body of work... Pac is consistently beating top opponents since 2003... Sergio is just starting...
ill be impressed when he beats a credible opponent in the welterweight division that hasnt just been battered by someone else. For example he should have fought mosley instead of clottey.
Arum is negotiating for a Berto fight if ever the Floyd fight falls apart again..
I don't know , but he is a top 5 now. #1 ? IDK .
The top 5 should consist of : Martinez , Marquez , Pacquiao , Mayweather and probably Shane Mosley still as a #5 . Remember Mosley drew with a middleweight in his last fight , a MW who went 1:1 with the man who outpointed Shane twice , and Mosley weighed in as a LMW against him.
Shane also outdid Pacquiao against Margachito , fought Mayweather under Mayweather's conditions , fought a much younger and physically sound delahoya , so he can still be regarded as a top 5 , I don't have any better ideas as to whom should be ranked in the top 5 .
BTW , I just watched the first 2-3 rounds of Guinn vs Pulev . Guinn scored a KD in rd 2 which never counted as one ..
mosley looks completely shot why would he be in the top 5? juanma lopez, bradley, pascal, montiel, donaire, ward lots of much better fighters than mosley.
Martinez's last two wins are much more impressive than Pacquiao's last two wins.
Pac's win is more impressive. Pavlik won some rounds on Martinez.
Clottey and Margarito safe to say they never won a single round against Pacquiao.
Impressive ? Pac was fighting at 130 and 135 lbs 1-2 years before that
I agree with that, but in no way does it justify ranking Sergio at #1. p4p is all about your entire body of work not your most recent accomplishments. You make it seem like Pac's only where he's at cuz of Clottey and Margarito. Really?
so roy jones should still be number 1? recent fights matter the most and recently martinez has been kicking ass while guys like floyd have been cherry picking and living off the best wins he had nearly 10 years ago.
damn why didn't Manny have to go through that type of competition before he was given the 1?
wtf??
before PAC got to No. 1 spot he -fought Barera 2x; Marquez 2x and Morales 3 times going 5-1-1
FOTY: sure.
P4P #1: too soon.
for martinez to get the #1 spot, he'd have to beat wifbeeater, then clean out what's left of 160 lbs, then fight and beat the winner of the super six.
damn why didn't Manny have to go through that type of competition before he was given the 1?
sergio should be p4p #1? give me a break. how many people on his resume have you really even heard of?
i do think he should be p4p #3, and hes a FANTASTIC fighter - i really like the guy i hope he continues on the path hes going, but to say he should be p4p #1 is pure idiocy and seems like a pac-hating thread.
pacs resume:
barrera
morales
marquez
de la hoya
hatton
cotto
clottey
margarito
martinez:
williams
pavlik
cintron
not even remotely close at all
pac resume has knockouts by 2 bums, a CLEAR loss to morales and 1-2 losses to marquez(everyone knows what went down was pure robbery). The only win worthy of admiration where his previous opponet hadnt just got clobbered is barrera
