I have seen very little improvement from Paul Williams since he came on to the spotlight on HBO. I think he's always overaggressive and doesn't utilize his physical advantages to the fullest.
This guy needs Emmanuel Steward or some other good trainer (Roach maybe).
Agree?
That ship has sailed. Steward wouldn't be a good fit to me, Manny would wanna flip his entire style and have him boxing tall behind a long jab. That isn't his strength, never will be. He's not Tommy Hearns. I think he'd benefit from anyone with a decent understanding of the fundamentals who's gonna let him be who he is but at the same time get on his ass about some of the more egregious technical mistakes he often makes (maybe a Jeff Mayweather?). If you're gonna throw that punch across your body at least have the left hand up not down at your waist, and try moving your head every once in a while. His flaws really got exposed tonight.
Nope. No matter who trains him next, his style is for life. He'll show a "new" style for a few rounds then revert to the gatling gun that he is, throwing a zillion punches till he hopefully wares his opponent out.
Steward seems to be a popular choice, but Buddy McGirt would be perfect. He worked wonders with Arturo Gatti and turned him into a boxer again - he could teach Paul how to box instead of just out-hustling his opponents.
pwill needs emmanuel steward. he needs to learn to fight tall like the klits. if he did this, he'd be even tougher to beat, however, he doesn't have power comparable to the klits.
pwill makes a lot of mistakes in a fight. when pwill got KTFO, he was throwing a left hook and his right hand was down at his waist. he was begging to get KTFO. eventually he was gonna get caught with such piss poor defense.
Steward would be good, and he should go with him whenever Steward goes to train Wlad.
Anybody would work though aslong as they worked with him on fighting tall.
