Lampley wasn't even there...there was one really good shot landed. That one really good shot was the opening salvo in Hagler-Hearns and it only pissed Marvin off.
Come on now...
That wasn't a great fight. It was entertaining and had a highlight-reel KO, but it was more Pac-Hatton than Hagler-Hearns.
both of you **** the fuk up none of those fights can compare with heanrs-hagler
I hear that.
I see this as one that hadn't yet realized its full potential when it ended, though, whereas Hagler-Hearns certainly had.
Really sucks to be Paul tonight. When you have two guys as likeable as these, it's hard not to be feel bad for the one who gets bombed out early in such a fashion as he did.
Let Martinez rematch Margarito if Floyd doesnt want him. Williams can rematch Cintron or somebody and rebuild.
Next November lets see 'em do it again. All the respect in the world to Paul.
I feel so lucky getting to see a fight like this. :boxing:
Did you just compare Paul Williams to Hearns ???
This is worse than Tunney predicting Paul would beat Martinez easy.
As I said earlier, I wasnt talking about their fighting styles. I was saying the p4p #3 and #4 came in giving everything they had from the first bell, ending in an unexpected early KO. You simply dont see that **** in boxing anymore. Not from Floyd or even Manny.
The threadstarter has probably been drinking, LOL.
Hagler-Hearns was a two-way war.
That was one guy walking onto a few clean punches for 5 minutes until he walked onto a howitzer.
bahay kubo,
"My God, what a fight" is what Lampley said at the end of Barrera-Morales III (and possibly other fights, but that's the one I remember).
Not really an applicable comment here, LOL...although Lampley may have actually said it tonight as well (I didn't have the HBO).
Correct on both counts. I was talking about the level of excitement coming in, the skill level of both guys, and the early unexpected finish. This was the p4p #3 and #4 coming right out and laying all they had from the first bell. When the **** do you see that on boxing any more?
Floyd doesnt do that. Manny doesnt even do that.
Great, great ****ing fight.
