Floyd won't be able to surpass Pacquiao in legacy by beating another WW or even JMW since he's already gotten titles in those weightclasses. At this point, beating Williams, Martinez or any other fighters at 154 wouldn't cut it. At 160, though, thats a different story because Floyd would have to accomplish something he hasn't already. A middleweight title with a defense COULD put him back into the discussion.
I see what you're saying but more important than who is when.
The Marg from this past weekend vs the Hatton Floyd fought, who ya got? In my eyes its actually a credit to Floyd that I think hes fought the easier fights than Pacquiao. Even against similar opponents Ive always thought Pac had the higher likelihood of losing. Ive always felt Floyd was head and shoulders above the guys he was fighting.
Floyd could end his career now, and he will go down as a great. But I don't see him ever surpassing what Pacquaio has done.
The dude came up from flyweight and now dominates people several divisions above his natural weight class. Not just dominates, but destroys them. He's a freak.
I don't see Floyd being able to fight guys a couple of divisions above his natural weight and dominate in that fashion. He probably has the talent to do it but he just doesn't fancy those kind of risks.
I would actually not care anymore. If Pacquiao can be praised for it, then Floyd could do it too. Weight drain Martinez. Make him come in at a weight you think he'll be weight drained, let's say 152.1. I mean Floyd is fighting the bigger guy right? And he's too small for MW, so why not make it even? Fight the bigger guy but don't let him come in at a full weight limit. Penalize him $1Mill for every pound overweight at the weigh in. Who cares? As long as he's fighting such a dangerous opponent. "We just want a fight". Right?
:lol1:
Good post. The problem is Floyd can't get away with draining fighters down. Again it goes back to being held to a higher standard by everyone associated with boxing, the fans and media.
Would Pac fans support Floyd fighting Martinez at a CW of 150 for a JMW fight??
Floyd being held to a higher standard just indicates to me that people truly think he is the best.
At the end of the day his last two opponents were P4P to 5. Manny's weren't even in the rankings, yet he is the GOAT for beating AM at a CW?? C'mon. the like of Ray Leonard, Hearns, SRR would stomp on Pacquaio because he get's hit too often.
me personally, would prefer it at 135. jmm is already too small for that as it is. 140 is pushing it.
off subject.
i need a jmm fan perspective.
roach's lame ass is talking about jmm at 147.
that's bs.
135 for me would be great but i'll settle for 140.
would jmm fans be okay with pac-jmm 3 at 140?

If he beats Williams or Martinez he surpasses him, if he's not already in front. Inis last 2 fights he beat the number 1 ranked welterweight anf P4P top 5 in JMM. If he beats Williams another top 5 P4P, or SM also P4P how could he not be better?? Where are Clottey and Margo ranked on the P4P list?????
floyd fought the winner of mosley/margarito
pacquiao fought the loser.
shane stopped the loser (margarito)
so the catch weight king should not receive any praise.
floyd is the true p4p..he beat the best at a good weight while pacquiaos opponents damage them self with the weight issue before they even enter the ring.
END THREAD!!
pac fought the winner of cotto vs shane
floyd fought the loser of (shane)
so catcweight floyd cheated jmm on the scales ..
pac is the real p4p...floyd fights old men with 9 lossses like bldomir and 16 losses like augustus....i can play that sh1t too!...:boxing:

The sarcasm was shown by calling Hatton a good fighter while referring to Margarito as a bum.
I see what you're saying but more important than who is when.
To just win a belt at MW is not enough.
Exactly. Floyd is trying the minimal effort, maxiumum satisfaction approach. When he beat DLH at 154 he thought the world of himself and patted himself on the back, thinking that would make him above Ali or something. Thats how deluded and in love with himself is floyd.
Floyd is probably thinking all he has to do now is win middleweight title. But we know something he dont. It dont work like that. You have to ignite a spark in people like Pac has done. Just winning is not enough. How you win is important. FLoyd might win similar to how SRL so called won over Marvin Hagler.
Why do people think Floyd ruins fighters all the time?
But why does Pac have to fight JMM at a weight where JMM has a better chance? Why didnt the rule apply to FLoyd? Why couldnt floyd fight JMM at 140 if not 135?
Doesnt floyd budge from 147? When floyd wakes up he probably weighs 147. When he is 90 years old he will probably still weigh 147. He likes 147 dont he?
People want to see a good well matched fight, this isn't about Floyd everyone knew that it was a tune-up.
I know they are just being totally unfair to pac and cant see how obvious it is to us because they are blinkered in their thinking. Thinking with their hearts and not heads.
But the hate will just make Pac more legendary and will not hurt him.
Ah the irony....:lol1:
If the JMM fight is not at 135 I will not give Pacquiao any respect or credit for beating JMM.135 or no fight is my opinion.
If i check your post history will i find posts of you slaughtering floyd for fighting JMM at 147 then? Will i find posts of you saying i wont give floyd credit for beat JMM at 147.
Will you show the same animosity you show for Pac? Try show some consistency and i wont have beef with you.
They still think of Manny as just an asian midget
undeserving of calling the shots. In their eyes
he is still the challenger. Which is why these folks
don't seem to follow boxing at all.

Sorry, don't agree. Shane put the last of his career into prepping for Mayweather. He's done. Although I'm pretty sure he could cause Yuri Foreman to twist an ankle

Yes both reached HOF but HOF doesn't really mean ATG, Oscar is a HOF'er first ballot but not an ATG.
Yes I think Pac resume surpassed Floyd. IMO anyways Floyd has never beat anybody as great and as versatile as Marco Antonio Barrera, To me a draw with JMM is just as good as a win against the likes of Ndou, Bruseles, Mitchell, and that version of JMM that Floyd fought. Because, of how good that version of JMM at 126 was. Matter of fact I would not even mentioned Ndou, Bruseles, and Mitchell. I would replace them with Chicanito, Manfreddy, and Chavez. Ledwaba was a really good win too if you take that context of that win. And, Pac wins against Cotto and Hatton are legit and the way he won those fights was astonishing. Yes I say Pac is greater by a solid margin.
What I meant was they would be around the same level after you believe they reached their HOF-status I then listed the rest of their resumes since then and was asking you to compare them. I'd say the Castillo win is almost as good as Barrera since Castillo very underrated and big with great ability, I agree the Ledwaba win was very good and infact I'd rate it higher than his rematch with Morales. Hatton was also a legit good win but Floyd beat him too, The Cotto win was legit and very good I rate it about the same as Floyds win over Mosley.
