There is a style that makes every fighter fold no matter how good you are. We've already seen the style that Pacquiao finds hard to beat - Counter puncher, with quick hands (Marquez).
However, what is the style to beat Mayweather?
south paw style with a lot of stamina to back it up. this is the real reason why senior doesn't want Jr. facing the likes of Manny

Mayweather's laser lead right is susceptible to right hook counter of a south paw stance.
IMO the best style to beat Floyd is someone who can VICIOUSLY work the body, however even more so important than that someone with a great jab. of course he would need the physical tools like power, speed, leg movement, upper lateral movement, heart and stamina but in terms of what he would need to do to win in the fight he would need a good effective jab and an absolute terror of a body attack. Floyd has a very good defense, it will be a slimmer chance head hunting all night than if you break him down for 8-9 rounds first and then aim upstairs
A really really good pressure fighter that doesn't play to Mayweather's style, you have to keep him on the ropes and cut off his ring generalship. You would also need a really good punch out put, Paul Williams would be humiliated by Mayweather. Pacquiao would present some troubles.
People should agree with me that Manny has the style to beat Floyd. People thought just because JMM gave Pac a hard time by counterpunching Floyd will win easily. They forgot completely the fact that Pac won both fights albiet a close fight that can go either way. They also forgot to put into consideration the Pac who fought JMM twice was far from the Pac who retired Oscar and Hatton, gave the worst beating to Cotto, Clottey and Margarito. To half accurately gauge what Floyd can really do against Pac. JMM and Pac must fight at 140 or 147 as there are lot of things missing (better chin, stronger, wiser, etc.) from Pac arsenal in their last two fights. If Pac destroy JMM easily in this weight where most likely Floyd vs Pac will take place. Then it is safe to say Pac has a better chance of beating Floyd or vice versa than saying oh JMM beat him twice so Floyd will have an easy fight easy money to him but then keep moving the goal post is very frustrating then!
ON THE LIGHTER SIDE,
floyd jr own style has already beaten his own self!
he is currently scheduled to appear for court hearing in jan 2011!
no need to beat floyd jr inside the ring, he's been beaten up by his own self!
In reality however,
Pacman always improve in every fights he does,
Pacman style and scientific approach will certainly frustrate Floyd jr.!
how is floyd not a pure boxer?
maybe we have different assumptions about what a pure boxer is.
floyd won the 1st 4 rounds on everyones scorecard and the first 5 rounds on some so how could he possibly lose?the worst he could of got was a draw.
it was a close fight. some people had him losing. just saying.
pure boxer is the worst style fore every other style to fight get over it.
nope. pressure fighters beat boxers. boxers beat punchers. punchers beat pressure fighters.
no pure boxer who is mentally strong will ever get dominated,
i never said they'd get dominated. when did I say that? all I said was pressure fighters beat boxers.
if they were to lose it would be barely
you really overrate pure boxers. we get it. you love that style. next.
You said all that to say what?
that you budged into the conversation without knowing hearing the whole thing
U got in a few more "wifebeater" taunts?
he beats women. the name fits.
Only to say "I said the same thing" practically about my entire post...its not personal. I'll be the recipient of your weird "Johnny come lately" taunts.
cause there wasn't much substance to your post
Truth be told, Roach is on record as saying this is the most challenging fight for Manny.
when did I say he wasnt?
Nice to see you think rushing him and "outworking" him is Roach's definition of challenging.
I never said outworking wifebeater was gonna be easy. your reading comprehension is either low or you jump to conclusions.
we are talking about styles. when you actually get into a fight, there are more things to consider than just styles.
using your example of diaz vs paulie, it's obvious that diaz suffers several disadvantages against paulie, especially when it comes to reach, height, and weight.
this doesn't disprove that pressure fighters beat boxers, it just proves that the good big man always beats the good little man.
castillo arguably beat wifebeater in the first fight but wifebeater isn't pure boxer anyways. wifebeater can pressure and in-fight when he needs/wants to.your example is fallacious.
nope. pressure fighters beat boxers. boxers beat punchers. punchers beat pressure fighters.
boxers are not the end all and be all of boxing. I'm sorry

The type of fighter that would be able to defeat Floyd is someone that has better footwork than him (Manny Pacquiao and Andre Dirrell are the two only fighters whom I can think of that have better footwork than anyone else in boxing today).
This fighter would then have to cut-off the ring and then keep Floyd cornered or on the ropes while throwing combos so quick and powerful that if Floyd lands one, he'll pay by getting hit by three or four more shots than his opponent.
I believe Manny Pacquiao has more of an advantage over Paul Williams in this regard because of his superior footwork.
While Williams does have a great output pct., he'd still be too slow on his feet to neutralize Floyds ring generalship.
we are arguing about styles, not fighters. Once again, I'm talking about boxers in general, not wifebeater specifically.
I said as much in a previous post.
I said as much in a previous post jonny come lately.
wifebeater gets outworked. possibly dropped 1-2x in the early rounds.

Terrible assessment. Floyd has over a decade of championship level fights on his resume and you point to one fight (Castillo 1) as the example to beat him?

You know how many world class trainers thought "Floyd is a runner with brittle hands and not enought pop, let's pressure him.", only to be leaving the ring with a "L"?
I said as much in a previous post.
I'm willing to bet this was the gameplan for 80% of Floyd's opponents and we see how that turned out.
I said as much in a previous post jonny come lately.
So instead of looking at the 39 other times this thought process didn't work, you opt to look to the 1 time it was effective. I love the way you guys think. It'll make this board very interesting when Floyd completely embarrasses Pac easily.
