They never give this guy the proper respect. They always find an excuse to downgrade his performance (he fought mentally shot fighters/old men etc..). He has showed time and time again in many ways that he is a legit fighter and lives up to hype of belonging in the same league as guys like Duran, Hearns , Sugar ray Leanord etc..
Pac is a good dude man and a gift to our boxing era. He wants to fight the best and pours his heart out in the ring. There's nothing bad to say about a fighter like that.
A lot of people should put jealousy aside and give respect when it's due. This is nto America's next top model where you judge people by their looks, ethnicity, swagger etc..., it's a sport where these men put their reputation on the line and risk a lot to peruse their dreams.
I guess it's human nature. It's easier to discredit and find flaws than to give props. It's not just boxing though, it's like this in any sport.
Definitely. Sad but true
its not about whether they went down, it about the level of talent he is going up against. Skills win fights, not size.
Skill's and a lot of other factors win fights not only skills. Power, heart, will to want to win etc... Can't take these things away from margarito. Just because someone doesn't have skills and good teqnique doesn't mean they're easy to fight.
In my experience it's very hard to fight somebody that has good skills and movement though. Someone who dances circles and is hard too hit. If Pac and Mayweather fought it'll be a problem definitely for both fighters.
i give pac all the credit in the world for beatin these guys, i'm just not a fan of title fights being fought at catchweights if ur gonna fight for the title, y look to have the advantage of making ur opponent work dat much harder to lose the weight, i believe he should've fought these guys at the weight limit the title belongs in, even if he feels it puts him at a disadvantage(even though i still believe he would beat these guys) it would make those victories that much sweeter for him becuz the common excuse (he was weight drained) wouldn't be acceptable
I never understood the catchweights too. After the Delahoya fight it should have been clear that he belongs in that division with bigger men. I think roach used as an advantage over the other fighter both mentally and fisically though. There definitely shouldn't be any more catchweights int he future

Now you know how it feels when Pactards discredit Mayweather's wins.
Also, Floyd's wins were much better.
It's not his fault that these guys wouldn't go down. He tried his best and totally dominated the fight. How is that any different from knocking a guy out?

Who are "They"?
Every boxing journalist/expert non fightfans praise Pacman like he's from another planet. There will always be hardcore boxingfans on different boxing forum that will discredit boxers but the same thing goes for Floyd. It doesn't matter who he beats and how wins just come to this site after one of his fights and there are tons of threads about Floyd ain't **** and this win don't mean anything and blablablablablablabla.
They are the people I see on this forum, guys at my gym etc... When I made this thread I should have went more deeper into it because my concerns were more about "why do people love to hate and discredit so much". This goes for fighters like Floyd, Williams, The klitchkos etcc who always get criticized instead of paid homage to.
What most people don't understand though is that it's more healthy to appreciate and hate. Hating will always lead to bad things in life and doesn't reflect too good on your personality.
In the end, Pacquiao is a true warrior in the ring, and would gladly fight any man. it's his team's choice of opposition that makes people discredit him.
I agree with you pare.
beating joshua clottey and antonoi margrito by decision is just like beating duran or hagler.
It's not his fault that these guys wouldn't go down. He tried his best and totally dominated the fight. How is that any different from knocking a guy out?
Margacheato has always been nothing more than a slow moving punching bag with wide looping punches. Any figher with elite level speed would give this guy serious problems. It there reason why Pacquiao fought him.
You see what I'm saying you're looking at it the wrong way. Margarito might be slow and easy to hit but that doesn't mean that he's a big threat. No1 that gets hit like that and still comes at you throwing punches non stop is an easy fight, especially when they weight 17 pounds more than you.
I'm not saying that Pac will not have trouble against better competition, but there's no doubt that he will avoid and duck better competition. That's having balls right there

Pacman isn't the only fighter who has to endure the BALANCE of love and hate in this game...come on man.....they say B.Hop's biggest wins was against smaller fighters and not HOF fighters.....they say Lennox Lewis got his ass whooped in fight he won by TKO....Wlad Klitschko gets called everything but GREAT even though he hasn't lost a single round in about 6 years....the list goes on homey...its not just Pacman....if you REALLY cared you would see this :cool2:
That's very true. when you're on top they're gonna do their best to try and bring you down and that's what I don't understand. Why not respect someone for what they've done instead of hating on them.
Not everyone is the same though everybody's different. True boxing fans put jealousy aside though.
I hear you on those other guys and I know that this exists but they exaggerated a little with Pac though. On his biggest win at the time when he fought Cotto instead of petting him on the back they went and accused him of steroids. They went a little hard on Pac I'm telling you
people discredited him because he is popular and richer than any one of them so they get jealous and degrade him because it makes them feel inferior to pacquiao, its just pride and ego shuved up inside their ass. read some psychology books and you will see why most human beings (or should i say haters) act like this

the betting odds where 5 to 1, that will give anyone with half a brain an idea of the type of talent Manny was up against.
1 Question for U,was Margarito the best fighter at 154??
This fight was for the belt there's no doubt about that but even there he took a chance by fighting the bigger man and a dangerous fighter. We all know what Margarito is capable off.
What I'm trying to say is that by what Pacquiao has proved himself already that he doesn't back down and dodge threats.
