How is it fair that Pacman can come in lighter than the weight of the title at stake? IF i am fighting for the 154lb belt then shouldn't you come in at that weight or 147.01lbs to get a crack at it.
OK i understand there isn't a min weight, but do you think the system should change and that commission should stop fighters putting clauses stating the other fighter should drain themselves to 150lbs, when in reality they could weigh in at 154lbs.
If Pac cant make 154lbs he should at least get to 147.01 and then it would be a legitamate challenge. Please dont tell me about the past, this thread discusses the potential future to remove the corruption that Pacman and his team have put into boxing.
Please discuss.
In the case of Pac i think fighting "lighter" is an advantage for him. My point is, things need to change because hes not a "God" and by having a min fight weight imposed by the commission he is forced to either put on weight or fighter in 'his' division.
And what if Marg beat Pac to a pulp? I bet you wouldn't be bringing this really stupid issue out.
Two important reasons:
• For example, the Super Welterweight Division of 147-154 lbs.
If 7 pounds with no leeway, then no boxer can strictly stick within 7 pounds. For one thing, 7 pounds is nothing when you eat a meal, one can even gain 10 to 15 pounds. An intense workout can also shed 7 pounds...
• Second of all, MOST boxers would fight or contend within that range unlike Pacquiao who is off about 3 pounds at 144 and later fighting Mosley with a 17 pounds difference.
Therefore the NO-MINIMUM-WEIGHT is being applied to all weight divisions is logical. Do you think that in the light of the aftermath of Pacquiao v Margarito fight that many boxers would now try to emulate Pacquiao coming in lighter than his opponents and having big differences in weight?
NO.
What Pacquiao did is really risky. They elected for him to fight lighter so as to maximize his speed but also compromising his ability to absorb or rather ability to deter punches from a much heavier opponent.
What they did was a gamble but paid off exclusively to fight Margarito.
Of course. It couldn't have been when Ray Robinson fought for the lightheavyweight title in 1952 weighing 157.
Yes he was a coward. He knew that putting on those 4 extra pounds would slow him down and lose him the fight. My point is, IF you are soo great, you would put on those extra pounds and win regardless. :thinkerg:

Acting like stupid makes you stupid. The WBC sanctioned this fight not Pac or anybody, so blamed them. Pac coming 144.6 in 150 fight is within their rules. So why you crying? Maybe Pac violated your imaginary rules thats why you crying baby. Go to your momma gayweather and cry to his lap suckling his milk to ease the pain you currently suffering now. You can call the other flomos as well!
Boxing should be skill versus skill, the problem is that too many boxers are now worried that if they can't compete on an even platform, they gotta ask for a catchweight to be able to compete against their opponent.
That's complete bullish!t, there's only one thing that should matter in boxing, and that's skills. One day these boxing commissions will make it better, but for now we just have to deal with this flaw.
haha wow ok, so basically you are saying that fighting under the limit is an advantage? he could have told marg to weigh in at 147 instead - then marg would have had to lose another 3 lbs.
this thread is dumb. fighting under the limit is not an advantage. if so, then juanma would be fighting klitschko. every fighter can review the terms of a fight before they sign. margarito probably likes that pacquiao is 144 lbs. if marg didn't like these terms, he didn't have to agree. simple as that.
you stupid :wt: listen carefully, in 24/7 PAC SAID HE DIDNT want to add more muscle as he was losing speed in sparring. By coming in lighter he retained his speed. Therefore its an advantage you stupid yank fuk :wt:

of course you get to find out, pac just needs to put on weight to get to 154lbs and then fight... fair is fair, he MUST get to 154 and fight... or 147.01
You are just f****ing hating man!!! Can't you see your getting f****ing illogical now... Why don't you ask this big freaking fighters like Margarito, Williams, Cintron, Hearns on why they used to campaign in the WW division, they used to drain themselves dry to make weight at WW so that they can enjoy their natural ADVANTAGES of height, reach and eventually weight at fight night... Being just fast is not an advantage at all that a fighter can solely use to fight against this big men, in a 12 round match just one big punch from this big guys will surely send a speedy straight to the hospital brain damaged... Coz by your own logic it will be very easy for a speedy Bantamweight to challenge anyone at WW, if it's so easy why there's nobody doing it other than Manny??!!! And if your ruling takes into effect, Imagine a fighter like Montiel decided to become immortal by challenging the big guys at WW wherein he may already be giving up in height, reach and fight night weight, by forcing him to make your minimum weight of 140+lbs. doesn't that make him even more at a disadvantage??!!! He will surely be killed in the ring!!!
There is nothing wrong with Pacman weighting anywhere under the 154lb limit!!There is something wrong with him & Margarito fighting for a 154 title at a catchweight period!!Margarito just came off being suspended for cheating & beat some cab driver,Pacman has done absolutely nothing at 154,but some how these 2 jr middleweight nobodies have by past the 154lb elites & are fighting for the title & Manny's record 8th division!!
