Just my take.....
So the catchweight is 150lbs right? According to reports....margarito is only 1lb. above the contracted weight the week of the fight. I thought the "right way" to prepare for a fight was to cut weight a day or two before the weigh in and then re-hydrate back to optimum weight (+10/15lbs night of the fight). Last 24/7 episode they showed that he was at what weight? (157-159lbs?) Margarito looked like he was so drained.....granted they showed clips of him training hard and hitting the mitts with Garcia....but all 24/7 has showed is Pac getting blasted in sparring as well...(great marketing ploy by the way).
If Margarito doesn't re-hydrate back to at least 160-165lbs....same mistake will be made as with the DLH fight....he will have lost his ONLY advantage....his physical advantage.
Like Emmanuel Steward said during I think it was the 3rd or 4th round of the DLH fight...."It turns out DLH is only the TALLER fighter...."
Wonder how much of Margs chin and power will be left for the fight.....
:Thinkingo
when everyone kept saying oscar was weightdrained i was trying to come up with a different since weightdrained wasn't right.
i was thinking overtrained? , underweight? , overdieted?
weightdrained is just incorrect (though even boxing writers used it too , which is surprising)
It was the kangaroo jerky and spinach balls......
Exactly
If you're already looking for an excuse, I believe that the proper one is overtrained. That one looks like it will work well in this situation.
There you go...that's actually the term I was looking for....weight drained was kinda off....apologies...
And I ain't making excuses for anyone...just looking forward to a great fight (like how many people were expecting with Pac/DLH)...I just somehow see the fight going the same way....Pac dominating Marg from jump....granted Margarito should throw some bombs Manny's way....different fighter, same result, save for the quitting on the stool. :boxing:

You had it but the other cat missed it.

btw..... some 411.
weightdrain is when you cut so much weight for the weigh in.
he can't be weightdrained then if he's only 4-8 lbs. away from the weigh in weight.

^^This.
Some people fail realize that there are times that a boxer comes overweight at the weigh-in and has to lose the same amount of pounds (4)that Tony needs to lose in 1 week. Except they do it on the same day. 4 pounds in one week is nothing.

So if Marg is already around 151lbs-154lbs a week before / week of the fight....what is he suppose to re-hydate back up to? If its not 160lbs+...then he has no more advantage over Pac right?
they still put on weight.
even a week before the fight , they're already cutting weight to make sure they can make weight at the weigh in.
plus they're training hard every day so they're burning a lot of calories.
after the weigh in when they can rehydrate + eat + stopped running/gym work , he'll put on some pounds.
look at pac. even though he has no problems making weight at 147 , he still puts on a few pounds after the weigh in.
I think the 158 (Ep1) and 154 (Ep3) weight they mentioned was after cutting down 8-10 pounds...seeing if he could cut down in 1 or 2 days...
Come fight time he should be back to 160...
question: how do you weight drain a career welterweight like margarito with a 150 lbs catchweight???!!!!! HOW THE FUKK DO YOU DO THAT???!!!

Uhhhh. Tony is used to coming in at 147 and has to make 150. Oscar was used to coming in at 160 and had to make 147. :pat:
So he's actually on track to almost make 147, but wont have to kill himself the last few days before the fight. Margarito will be 100%
except for the final result i dont see satudaysfight being like the fight wit delahoya !!!!!
delahoya is a boxer at heart.
marg is just a slugger.
the speed confused delahoya because he's a technical fighter. technical fighters don't like to throw punches unless there's an opening because you leave yourself open when you miss. that's why when boxers that are technical get old , they can't pull the trigger anymore.
marg just throws to throw.
the result will probably be the same but the fight will go a lot differently.
I c this fight goin 2 wayz, 1: Manny just totally out boxes Margarito an possible stop him in the later rounds or 2. It being like the Cotto fight where Margarito just keeps comming an he drops Manny with a body shot.
i love the weight/weight drain excuses.
win and you put on so much weight and you had an advantage.
lose and you were weightdrained.
be close to weigh in weight before the fight and you're either in great shape or now weightdrained because you're not gonna put on enough weight later.
be much heavier than the weigh in weight before the fight and you're either out of shape or trying to get an advantage by being so much bigger fight night.
gives anyone with any agenda an excuse or reasoning.
