Not so much...he pulled a ***** move and quit on a stool which is the lowest thing for a Mexican warrior to do. He was a complete Guerrero Azteca against another Aztec warrior Izzy Marquez in 4 fights plus other countless wars he's been into, but to quit in your stool against a Rican like that?...that's a no-no compadre.
You go out on your shield like a true Aztec, not fearing death or defeat, a puro guevo. I'm really dissapointed, I watched the fight last night trying to catch up with all of the fights I missed last week since I traveled with my wife to Colombia, and it was just shameful, to quit on your stool like that...just shameful man.
JuanMa took your soul and f ucked it RaFa...smh

Eventually you'll realize that boxers, like anyone else, are human, even if conditioned to take the punishment. A 34 year old veteran fighter, who was fighting two weight classes above his prime weight, is probably not going to pull off any miracles against a hard-hitting young prospect. He gave it all he had, and found out it was not nearly enough. The long career he had before that fight, excuses and has more than made up for his retirement. Marquez did not need to prove anything to anybody.
agreed. I didn't give any chance to Rafa to win this. He's done enough and it's time for him to hang them up

I wonder how many of these fools have been in a ring to talk about Rafa like that. I don't Know how THA FUKK can anyone talk about him like that after the Izzy fights... :nonono:
It takes a lot of heart to know when you have lost. It takes a fool to receive unnecessary punishment

Mares...not for nothing but a lot of great "warriors" quit when they get to that old age. Erik Morales, Jose Louis Castillo, heck even the great Julio Cesar Chavez have, in one shape or another, said no mas. It's not as if they are quitters - quite the contrary, all of those guys are warriors - but it's so hard for their bodies to summon that kind of will again. Marquez proved his mettle against Vasquez but at some point, we have to recognize that these guys are humans. It happens.
true...there is a difference in that just not the one ure claiming
quitting during a round is showing more heart, its like saying "i can't take any more punishment but i have to try and see if i can go the distance. let me recover by taking a knee and i'll resume the fight" ->requires heart
quitting on ur stool is saying "f*ck it, i'm not going to win this, i don't want to get beat up for no reason. i've got a nice paycheck and u know what? f*ck my fans who are going to say i dont have heart. i get paid either way"
This^^^^^ so true
Well there's a difference in that... quitting in your stool is just...quitting, like saying "you know what? f uck this s hit". Bowing and taking a knee on the other hand...it's an act of asking God for mercy, as if to say "please Lord...I'm broken, battered, and beaten, I kneel to ask mercy and forgiveness. My strong, powerful and omnipotent Aztec God"
Just saying...
...Shameful

I feel you, but I don't think fans should diss him about it either though. He still fought a hell of a fight. Shi.t happens sometimes.
The modern boxing fan is fickle.
SHOW me the XRAYS or it didnt happen.........LOL...Nah Rafa is a warrior no doubt but that was a lil emberrasing him going out like that.

So after the wars Rafa went through with Izzy, he doesn't get a pass for not continuing because of his messed up shoulder?
LOL damn...

Lol @ internet forum posters losing respect for a professional fighter for quitting like they would have done any different.
And let's not act like Mexicans don't quit. That's a myth.
This is how I feel. If he infact quit, so what man? He has taken a lot of punishment before. He lost to a very good young champ. He has to think about his family, I like most of you here but come on, even being mexican if you Fuckers took at least one of Juanmas punches you would wan't no part on it.
Marquez was over the hill and put great effort against a young one punch power Lopez. Still manage to do some damage, Lopez was suppose to KO Marquez in dramatic fashion and failed at that. Dude, quit and I hope that there is rematch becuase it was fun to watch.
Marquez did quit plain and simple. Castillo quit against Gomez too, but he was more past his prime than Rafa was. Glen Johnson has more mileage on his odometer. Juan Manuel Marquez is older obviously. Rafa isn't in the win at all costs category that those guys are anymore. Hate to say it, but it's true.
props to the real mexicans in this thread
admitting to the way ur boy lost...ure real men..
u do know poking fun at ricans quitting is now considered hypocrite though right?
