Floyd Mayweather Jr should have stayed retired, as it's been a disaster comeback.

I don't know what you guys think about the latest fiasco but let's say as a boxing fan I've been disappointed by Mayweather this year. I've been thinking was it really worth coming out of retirement? Ok he beat JMM & Mosley, I'd say the Mosley win was decent, however, the majority excuse the JMM win and give him zero credit for it. When it comes down to it, why did Mayweather really come out of retirement? - was it money? or did he really want to come back for a mega fight with Pacquiao? Surely it was to come back to cement his legacy as being recognized P4P king, to knock Pacquiao off his throne right? I think were unable to answer this question, as no one knows how Mayweather operates, but it's a sure strange way to go about things. In my opinion, Mayweather should have stayed retired, I think his legacy was already sealed anyway, every boxing fan knows he's one of the most skilled boxing athletes to grace the boxing ring, and is ATG. OK he ducked some fighters, that's negotiable, we know that. However, most would agree he'd have probably kept his '0', the only real threat is Pacquiao. So my point is, IF Mayweather came back for greed, and not to land a fight Pacquiao, it really wasn't worth it, in my eyes.. He has hardly set the world a light since making his comeback, it's been somewhat of a disappointment and farce. Mayweather infact has lost more credibility since coming back, had he stayed retired I don't think so many boxing fans would be on his back right now.At the end of the day, beating Mosley & JMM was never worth it, unless he does fight Pacquiao that is. Right now, his comeback has been a disaster, I know some will disagree strongly but that's how I feel as a boxing fan right now. Thoughts? I think that if Floyd had stayed retired, he would have been jailed by the IRS anyway, as he is in danger of right now. It is his destiny to be a ducker, as he would the law.

Should of stayed retired unless he took Pac. SSM was a good win, but in hindsight after his perfermance against Moya, SSM probably isnt that good now. It certainly dont eclipse SRL win over Hagler.

your right you know....i can understand that his last 2 fights against marquez and hatton were fought at catchweights fair enough....but his fight against mosley was a bad choice to be fought at a catchweight because think about it floyd could now have another belt on his shoulder and be a world champion and also now Marg/Cotto/Pac and also Martinez/Williams are all fighting between 154 and 160 yet floyd is remaining at 147 instead of moving up and making his legacy have more better wins...who can he actually fight at welterweight that is actually relevant????....andre berto? yeah right :rofl:

JMM and Mosley are the biggest names on his resume and, primarily (for him), he made $65M and barely lost a round in the process. It's the high reward/low risk he craves. For boxing, well, he got it attention through the 2 24/7's and 2.4+ PPV buys. It is a catch 22 though because the man is just a disappointment after disappointment. He could've made so much history and so much of his beloved money, but instead chooses to talk it. He took a fight against Hatton instead of Cotto or Mosley, he retired instead of facing the winner of Cotto-Margarito, and he and Arum have sabotaged negotiations for Pacquiao fights twice in a row now. He's the biggest disappointment in boxing for the last 4-5-6 years.

You cant blame the man for trying to make some money. If he fights Pacquiao and loses his marketability halves atleast. I have no doubt they will fight eventually, Floyd is probably just trying to drag it out as long as possible. I hope once they do go to war that they dont both go and retire though, but thats what i see happening. I'm not knocking Mayweather for taking the money, it's human nature to make mega bucks if you can, I know I would. He is a great fighter, he could have done some special things had he fought better opposition in the process. I see what your saying, but Floyd really needed a top Welterweight on his resume. Baldomir is a C- fighter and Judah was an underachieving natural 140 pounder who just lost to that C- fighter. The Mosley performance really helped his resume. The Marquez fight was pointless. All it did was ruin a lot of excitement for a third Marquez-Pac fight. The only thing it accomplished was making Floyd's wallet fatter and stroke his own ego by now being able to brag that he shutout the man who gave Pac his toughest challenge.

Like I said, beating Mosley was a legit win, I give him credit for it. I never said Mayweather was not great, he is ATG, one of the greatest of our generation. However, the comeback hasn't been what it's cracked up to be. Come on dude, look at the **** Mayweather has landed himself in as of late, he hasn't even landed another fight yet either. Him staying retired would have been the best move he could have ever made. His legacy was already SEALED. Beating JMM and Mosley was never worth coming out of retirement.
