The contracts filed with the New York State Athletic Commission confirmed reports circulated previously in boxing circles that HBO had paid a license fee of $750,000 for Ortiz-Campbell.
But the most compelling argument that Ortiz-Campbell wasn’t worth $750,000 lies in what the fighters were paid. Victor Ortiz received a $100,000 purse. Nate Campbell was paid $125,000 plus an additional $25,000 for training expenses.
They pay $250K to Ortiz and Campbell but got $750K from HBO.
That's 500K to GBP and 250K to the fighters.
Does all promoters earn this way?
I thing HBO dosent ask for promoting money on their own commercials its theyre own freaking channel..... And there wasnt alot of promoting for that fight
GBP would still pay for press conference, press events near the fight, to put on the weigh in, whatever they produced for the fight (posters, cards, flyers, whatnot).
None of that **** is cheap if you consider the costs associated with all thsoe things.

Goldenboy gave campbell a big signing bonus,And still have to pay king.
So campbell shouldint be mad at goldenboy.Dont say shlt u dont know
about.
I said he maybe could get mad because he is older, Campbell is really to old to be getting short money, but he looked like ass against Alexander so he shoudl have been jsut fine with everything.
Read the second thing I posted in this thread thanks~
Those guys are low on the totem pole, I doubt they take 66% with Mosley or B-Hop or even JMM.
Well GBP would never pay their fighter out of the gross side, so they would take out every expense for that 750k they possibly could, if they spend 250k that leaves 500k net or a 50/50 split and 250k for expense seems kind of light but I don't know as that was the undercard.
Campbell maybe could get mad since he is at the end of the road so them taking that kind of bread out hurts him more, but Ortiz should love GBP they have done a lot for him including sticking by him after getting knocked out (or giving up) and rebuilding him.
If there is anyone that should not question GBP at all it should be Ortiz.

So we can safely assume that for every fight GBP get's 66% of the money?
minus expenses that's still a lot.

I asked this because i remember in 2003. Jim Lampley blasted Murad Muhammad by announcing that Pac is only getting $400K(?) from the purse of $750K for Barrera.
I don't really know what their deal was. I think Arum gets a cut out of Ortiz purse and King got paid off to let Campbell go. I don't remember all the details though.
Don king gets paid from goldenboy for a certain amount of fights.Same for
ortiz with top rank.
GBP is a big organization that has to make some money or else why be in the business. Put that in with the actual cost they incurred in promotion and I am sure 500k is about right.
Ortiz and Campbell should have been pleased as punch with what they were getting, considering how they looked in recent fights.

I see that. but are those numbers comparable for other fights?
King got payed by GBP? so he didnt have a cut from Campbell's 150K ?
nah,gp paid it.Same for ortiz with top rank.

Did Campbell get a signing bonus? Did Golden Boy have to buy his contract from Don King?
Unless people know all the facts there's really no way of knowing. I'm sure if Campbell got fukked his manager would be here telling us all about it.

Maybe but you think this is the norm?
