Not trying to be funny but i honestly dont think this fight sales. Looking back at these two fighters last fghts, this fight equals disaster. Pac is coming off a boring win over Clottey which only did 700,000 buys. Margarito is coming off a year long ass whooping and a suspension for cheating. Not to mention the fight is being fought at a catch weight of 150 for the 154 strap. I dont see how this fight sales. Not saying the fight wont be interesting, because even i want to see Margrito take a dive or beat Pacquaio fair and square.
500,000 buys is what im predicting..
Oh and Pavlik pulled out the under card event...do your remember the Pac vs Clottey undercard???? really stunk up the place!
will justin.tv hold this fight?? We'll see :)
I mean, I understand some people's need to hate and discredit anything Pac related... but come on now :lol1:
Everyone here knows it will be well beyond 1/2 mil buys. Even the most dedicated hater will admit that. I really don't see any logical angle that would lead to a conclusion of 200K less than the Clottey fight... really now.
You are going to look like the biggest fool on boxingscene when this is bumped in 2-3 weeks. Might as well start back-tracking now, get an early start on things.
Can't say you weren't warned :cool2:
pavlik not fighting will damage it in some ways imo, but id say theyd be happy with 750k plus tbh. Pac-CLottye got 700k, surely theyd be targeting more
I highly doubt anyone is not going to buy the PPV based on Pavlik not being on the card. People who follow Boxing know Pavlik, as they know Pacquiao...who in the end are really what they're paying to see.
Pavlik hasn't had a big win in over to 2 yrs now.
my thinking is that margo is a bigger draw then clottey and will draw more ppv buys.
as for jones/calzag, IDK, maybe becuz jones was on the decline and ppl didnt think he was gonna win or maybe calzag isnt a ppv draw, IDK.
and your estimate is about what mines is. IDK if it does a million, but certainly more then 500K.
Yeah but Roy Jones is a bigger draw then both Clottey and Margarito. Why didn't his fight sell?
Ahh, see your second statement. Timing and perception, like I said.
I don't get this logic. Roy Jones-Calzaghe featured one superstar, one Euro star and a 24/7. HBO rolled out the red carpet for it. Sh*t didn't even crack 200k buys. It's about timing and perception. The name power only fits under those two things.
Anyway, like I said: 600-800k; maybe a little more, an outside chance of less. We need to stop overvaluing these fights (ahem, 2mil for Mayweather-Mosley) and deal with reality. And don't be surprised when there's controversy regarding the PPV #s.
roy calz did 250k....

IDK if it will do a million, but to think it will only do 500K is crazy. Marg much more well known then clottey.

I think it'll do between 800k and 1.1 mil. That being said I hope the sales are poor, I don't want that scum bag to earn another pay check in the ring, if his ppv were poor it would show that people don't want to see him in the ring again.
Sadly that won't the case.
You should'nt even compare the two. Floyd was coming off a good bout against zab and fought carlos baldomir. The Baldomir wasnt the best fight in the world but floyd beat him THE BIGGER man with one hand. Not to mention Baldomir was coming off impressive ko's. THen Foyd went up to 154 the actual weight and fought Oscar who was coming off another impressive ko over mayorga.
They advertised the **** outta that fight. Pretty boy vs Golden Boy, the 24/7 alone was one of the best shows i'd seen. Good vs Bad, PRetty vs Ugly, black vs mexican...it had no choice but to do big numbers.
Pac vs Margarito. One guy coming off a lost the other just beat clottey & the 24/7 is dull!
No matter what his recent history is, Margarito is so much bigger than Baldomir it isn't even funny.
