Eubank on Eubank-Jones:
I don't think I'd of gone in there and gone for his head, not initially.
I could land body punches from out of range and I never once got caught, not one time.
I could land body punches from in range where only two a round for four rounds would break my opponent down after six.
Jones had great speed and all the moves and I was very fast with some great moves, a strategic mind and cast-iron chin.
So I think that fight might've come down to a battle of wills in the end and who could take the most punishment.
The one thing I know is that if I lost, Jones would've been hurt.
Eubank on Eubank-Toney:
A fight with James Toney would've been even more dangerous than Jones, because he had the most fire in his belly - more even than Nigel Benn.
He was an aggressive slippery counter puncher, I recall.
Persistent hard punches to the body and head from the outside range with both hands would've broke him down, but he had the fire to break down the pain barriers.
Beforehand I'd of insisted for stretchers awaiting with a clear pathway to the ring.
Eubank on Eubank-Nunn:
Nunn was everything you wanted to avoid - big, busy southpaw and a mover, a boxer.
But he couldn't punch and he couldn't hold body punches very well.
Eubank on Why the fights didn't happen:
I was making a million a fight and fighting five or six times a year. I wouldn't have earned any more fighting Toney or Jones and they had to book me and simply did not.
Their promoters wouldn't let me fight in America because apparently I had too much of a difficult style to look good against for their paid-screen.
The one fight I turned down in America was Iran Barkley. I would not of turned down Nunn or Toney or Jones if the money was correct.
Barkley was another matter. I knew the sort of hunger and the sort of mind-frame the New Yorkers had, they were a particular type of beast, a peculiar type of beast; so tough, so rough... they wouldn't stop.
He also described James Toney as:
The reason I couldn't get endorsement deals.
Ive posted this before but years back i met Nigel Benn and we talked boxing, i said its a pitty a Roy Jones fight never happened and Nigel replied Nah its a blessing he woulda killed me! Of course this was when Jones was still Jones
Benn was basically shot, post G-man

Why dont you post your sources for these quotes?
oh yea i remember that and he still got a gift decision in that fight against an 0-5 opponent. i guess he was just blessed wherever he went.
Then bang goes your theory of why he didn't go to the US

Two tough-nuts you never fought were Jamey Toney or Roy Jones Jnr. How do you think you would have fared if you had?
It would have been great for the public but had I fought them I would probably be walking around on my heels now. You would be fighting for your life with those men, but I would not have dodged them. They were never number-one contenders so the fights never happened, but I would not have dodged them. ]

eubank spent his entire career parading around as the "undefeated guy" that no one could beat. what a sham as he lost his 5th career pro fight. oh the wonders of good promoting.
lol...................
oh yea i remember that and he still got a gift decision in that fight against an 0-5 opponent. i guess he was just blessed wherever he went.
Euro-stars fighting fat yank-stars in fatyankeestan almost always gets shafted. Just a fact.
You would think these guys were HOF'ers the way the UK bigs them up. LOL @ bodyshot from the outside and not getting tagged against a prime Jones.
Certified HOF'ers
yea i know it's called memory. i remember i saw the fight he had against an 0-5 guy where he got schooled and he got a gift decision in america which makes what i said even funnier. he gets gift decisions everywhere which makes it even more puzzling why he didn't come over to america when it mattered. if he knew he could get a gift decision and still refused to fight the top fighters he must have been really scared.
Memory? LOL or maybe its called not knowing shiit and then running your mouth about it anyway.
Yeah mate, we got it - Calzaghe, Calzaghe, Calzaghe, gift decision, robbery, scared, ducking - carry on son.
lol, he thinks he could land a bodyshot on roy from the outside and not get tagged?

Scoring Benn-Eubank II
Scoring Benn-Eubank II
(No sound.)
Round One
Benn-10
Eubank-9
Both men testing out their reflexes early. Very tense work. Eubank tried to potshot from the outside but it wasn't as effective as his inside work. Benn landed a few solid shots to the body and is the more active man inside.
Round Two
Benn-9
Eubank-10
Eubank scored from the outside with some sharpshooting. He used his jab and also scored to the body. Both men landing good left hooks. Nigel slow to pull the trigger but doing well at ducking, slipping and weaving.
Round Three
Benn-9
Eubank-10
A counter left hook wobbles Benn momentarily, and Eubank continues to shoot some well-timed jabs. A short hard right hand and some nice uppercuts on top of that win Eubank a scrappy round, although Benn starts doing a decent job at slipping the right hand and countering to the body.
Round Four
Benn- 10
Eubank- 9
Benn beginning to find his range with his right hand and body shots beginning to have some effect. Eubank's mid-round, mid-range flurry something minor.
Round Five
Benn- 9
Eubank- 10
Eubank gets in lots of nice left hooks. Benn had kicked it off wild but was turned against the ropes. Eubank had Benn on his heels a little with some crisp combination punching. A right-left combo on the chin might have hurt Benn. For the remainder of the round, Chris counters well with uppercuts and right hands.
Round Six
Benn- 9 (8, one point deducted for low blows)
Eubank- 10
Eubank lands a lot in this round. Inside punches force Benn back. Nigel gets in a small handful of head shots towards the end of the round.
Round Seven
Benn- 9
Eubank- 10
Eubank lands in two's and some single uppercuts, and gets out or holds. Clever. Quiet round for Benn though, plodding forward. Both men appear very tired.
Round Eight
Benn- 10
Eubank- 9
Benn's ripping the body with hard uppercuts and mixing in right hands to the head. Eubank showing inaccurate shoeshiner flurries and a lot of holding inside.
Round Nine
Benn-10
Eubank- 10
Eubank gets his jab working to clearly better the first part, but Benn really sinks in the body shots in the second part and has more activity inside.
Round Ten
Benn- 10
Eubank- 9
A beautiful leaping left hook hurts Eubank and a follow-up barrage has him stumbling a little. He comes back with a short uppercut on the inside, but no damage done. Every time he gets something done, he's getting hit right back with something heavier. Benn's round for sure.
Round Elevan
Benn- 9
Eubank- 10
Eubank tightened up his punches and started to use his jab again. His best round in awhile.
Round Twelve
Benn- 10
Eubank- 10
Benn starts on fire and nearly had Chris out early, but soon tired for a desperate looking Eubank to work his backside off and outwork Nigel to edge a share.
Final Score
Benn- 113
Eubank- 116

You didnt even know he begun his career in America then a few minutes later you're saying he got a gift decision in America. Yaaaawn

well a lot of fights in boxing are gift decisions. boxing is not a very honest sport. watch the fight he clearly loses. i don't like to pretend someone won a fight just cause it says they won on boxrec. he clearly lost a lot of his fights but he had a pretty good racket going on with huge paydays and big tv ratings so the judges didn't let him lose. i don't respect a guy who only wins fights just because he's popular.

Pretty much anything is a gift decision to you. Your act got old a long time ago
