He beat the next Pacquiao,
no
he beat Marvin Sonsona nothing more
then he beat the #1 mandatory challenger
sounds good on paper but cmon Zolt Bedak? If Vazquez is deemed in experienced by you and your ilk what do you call Bedak?
can't play it both ways and call Vazquez inexperienced then turn around and have him beat less experienced guys leading up to Choko
and now he beat a former champ. What else do you want? An unification fight with only two title defenses?
calm down he beat a former 115lb champ against a coked out Johnson. Big fukking deal.
Did you know this very guy you and your ilk call a real good challenge beat fought an 0-9 and 1-14 fighter just last year?
Both had their first title challenge at 29+ fights when Vazquez Jr. had his in his 18th fight?
against a 14-0 fighter and then defended it against a 15-0 fighter
I think its amazing to get to this level in only 4 yrs in the sport. That is incredible for any human being regardless of Where they come from.
He has flaws, but like much of the fast guys, his speed and reflexes compensate his mistakes.
LOL the guy fights nothing but Tomato Cans .
Welfaredo better milk that belt for as long as he can cause as soon as he steps up to a real challenge he'll fold.
The hate alt...spare us:bottle:
As a world champion you are not expected to fight journeymen.
Everyone has a belt now a days. Lets not make believe that when a PR fighter gets a belt he is a TRUE Champion and the best, he was a 19 fight pro when he fought Choko. and we all know the list of "champions" is vast.
I say the Puerto Ricans should feel honored because the PR fighters are always held to a higher standard than other fighters...Good job.
I wouldnt care if your mother didnt respect him. He had a goal and achieved it....I suppose at 19 fights with no amateur career he should be calling out the lb for lbs...lol

Im not nutt hugging but not matter if you are Rican,Mexican, black or white to me this kid has a lot of potential, his conditioning looks good and hecan brawl. He is not an elite fighter but I believe he is a star in the making
I bought the thing because I used to be close to Choko and because I had an interest in the Majewski/Gomez bout on the undercard.
The worst thing about the broadcast was the commentary! Colonel Bob Sheridan and whoever the other guy was were absolutely the most biased one sided cheerleading announcers I have ever seen. I understand it was a promoter funded PPV show and they were working directly for the promoter but they still have a job to be unbiased and deliver fair commentary. If you would have closed your eyes you would have thought that Choko was never doing anything in the fight. When in reality the fight was pretty much a draw before Choko got stopped. Choko did great work on the inside and was really bringing it. Yet the commentary only cared to talk about Vasquez's slick shoes for 10 rounds. Terrible. I will make it a point to never listen to those 2 clowns again.
Yes it was a great win ... a lot of people here saying he should face tougher opponents bah! BS he is not 38 yrs old he is a rising star he just need to keep fighting .. mandatory fights etc... he is the champ he doesnt need to call anybody
He beat the next Pacquiao, then he beat the #1 mandatory challenger and ex olympic, and now he beat a former champ. What else do you want? An unification fight with only two title defenses?
does that mean wilfredo vasquez jr is the next rustico torrecampo?
You know why he should be thrown in with the wolves now?
Because he is the WBO Champion. You don't do tune ups or soft fights when you are champion. You fight the best.
If he wasn't a champ, I'd say let him mature, but he's got that belt.
He is required to defend it against the best.
I think it was a good victory for him but if he has the belt, he has to take the responsibility to defend it honorably.

Yeah, and Paul Williams and Margarito didn't have much of an amature career either. What's your guys' point?

I would agree with your theory if it wasnt just that ..a theory or more like conspiracy theory.
Im sorry but I didnt hear of WV2 ducking anyone or paying #1 or any contenders to step aside....You must have some serious inside connections or serious worse case fantasies.
The man did what he had to do against a veteran who had no respect for him. Period.
The whole fight the best applies to all boxers at a certain part of their career....Its funny how a belt is worth something depending on whose holding it applies to some fighters while with some the belt is nothing compared to the boxer holding it.:chairshot
