Some credit, sure. But you can't expect near the full cache given the circumstances and Margarito's current non-status. Sure, im realistic in realizing people would try discredit the win for Pac, like people do for Floyd. But no body knows the full circumstances as to why Margarito might not have performed to his absolute best in his last few fights. But i would bet money on the fact that this kind of being the last chance for Margarito he would have trained harder for this Pac fight than any other fight hes ever had. We dont know how hard he trained for his last fight when he didnt perform brilliantly so can be excused for a poor showing, so everything has to be taken into account.

You can't say that with any certainty at all. TBH, even if Margarito has a big performance left in him, it's still unlikely we would be seeing the best Margarito of his career against Pacquiao. The reason why we cant say Margarito isnt the margarito of 2008 is because, Margarito is training to fight Pac the best boxer in the world. People train harder for Pac and more thouroughly, because they know they have to. The margarito who faces Pac, would beat the Margarito with plaster who fought Cotto.
