I'm not sure what you expected Manny to say about that. Of course, the Ruiz example is not exactly the same scenario. Yes, Ruiz held a belt at HW but Lennox Lewis was the guy at HW. Roy took on the easier of the HWs. This thread states that Manny would not have fought Martinez who I would say would be the guy at 154 if he didn't vacate the division. and my point is that Manny or whoever can make the decision they want but at the end, the history will be reviewed and assessed and discussed to determine all this.

Thats like any boxer fighting one of the guys that knocked out Pacquiao and meaning something. Or any boxer fighting some of the guys that beat Margarito early in his career. But this is more about the title and "history" being picked and chosen. And that is why the fact that they are fighting for the fraud WBC belt sucks so bad because it is considered picking and choosing on Pacquiao's side which no boxer should do. Boxers should take on all challenges they want to accomplish and not just take those challenges depending on who is standing in their way. Margarito should not be fighting for this title. I cant wait for this fight and hope it turns out competitive if Margarito isn't too bad but every time I hear Pacquiao "is going for history to win a title in his eight weight division" it makes me shrug my face. Pac did a catch with Cotto and a full with Clottey at welter. I'm hoping he will do the same at light middle. Pac will do a catch with Margo and a full with Sergio. Pac's catch weight with Cotto was forgotten after he fought full weight with Clottey. I'm sure he will do the same as Sergio.That would make it all the better if he announced his next fight is against Sergio Martinez if Martinez beats Williams. With that said, If Martinez beats Williams convincingly and Pac crushes Margarito then I don't see why the two wouldn't fight.
