Judging by todays standards Floyd's win over Baldomir is totally legit.

Finally we have gotten somewhere & I'm inclined to agree!!My point or main points were & are,Mostly about the legitamacy of the titles at stake!!I believe Pacman-Margarito will be entertaining & I know that fight shouldn't be as easy to win as some think!!But 90& of Pacman fans have critisized FLoyd for the baldomir fight,me too,they weren't in the same class!!But the fact remains that Baldomir was the champion & Floyd fought him at 147 for his title!!If Manny-Margarito was just a fight,I'd support it & have no problem with the ppv,but it's for a 154lb title,at a catchweight,that's why this tread was made,I will still always believe it hypocritical to bash Floyd for Baldomir,but not call the Pacman-Margo fight exactly what it is,a doctored up title fight giving Manny a 154lb title by beating a man who has no claim to that division!!But on a serious note it's been a pleasure debating with an adult who is capable of of debating without name calling & can admit their faults as well as others!!:boxing: I stated it a while back that we were somewhat in agreement but as long as this was straightened out .... One thing though that I would like to point out that you may have missed. Manny could have taken on Cotto who also beat someone for the LM title. Arum stated that the fans would not go for that and Cotto would have had to prove himself by winning a few more fights before they could have taken that route. So for those that would agree with Arum and I think many do, they wished to have seen Margo vs Manny more than Manny taking on Cotto ... at least at this point in time. Plus Arum has stated that after we see how well Manny does against Margo then we will know if they can use Margo as that stepping stone to fight an Angulo, Martinez or perhaps Floyd, if his vacation is over by then .....

Well there is no lineal champ at 154 like Baldo was at 147. There hasn't been a lineal champ at 154 since Winky. However, I see your point that he could have face Dzinziruk, K9, or Cotto and it would be legit. Since they're the title holders at 154. IMO lineal champ just means you the man in the division but not the best in the division. Baldo was the man but not the best. Marg is neither the man nor the best at 154. The title should not be on the line since neither has done anything at 154. Nor would I call the winner the "champ" unlike how Floyd being the champ after Baldo. Floyd does deserve more credit as belts and championships is concerned. However, I do think Marg, even this version of Marg, is a better fighter and a bigger threat than that Baldomir was IMO. I just honestly think Baldomir was not that good. I have no problem with Floyd getting his highest career payday at the time to fight the lineal champ though. For this whole thread that line has been crossed between the FIGHT and the TITLE. I made it very clear, I believe on my opinion. I have seen you crossing that line at times and if I gave that impression myself, I wanted to clarify that as well. The theme of my tread is by today's standard Floyd Baldomir is totally legit!!I never said Margarito-Pacman wasn't gonna be entertaining!!Don't confuse urself & think ur making a point homey!!I personally think that Baldomir was the easiest way for Floyd to get that title,I've said that repeatedly!!But if Pacman-Margarito is acceptible,then Floyd-Baldomir should be too!!Pacmanfans shouldn't criticize Floyd for taking that fight,but adore Pacman's choice of opponent,at a catchweight for a title!!It is not fair,what's good enough for Floyd,should be good enough for Pacman!! See I was right. You are mixing up the title and the fight. I already said in a fashion that I would think was very clear. As a TITLE Floyd vs Baldo was legit BUT as a FIGHT, I would go for Manny vs Margo any day of the week .... because I never did and never will consider Baldo in a class that would make me think and say, ya .... This is full of bs. Floyd gets credit for fighting Oscar. Stop with the bs. Not to mention, pac came from having 1 fight at 135 and came up two freaking weight classes. Oscar came down TWO POUNDS. If Pac fought Cotto again people would say it doesnt mean anything either because he already beat him down.
