no he isn't
and this is coming from a guy from the UK that watched naseem hamed as a kid and practically idolized him at one stage
frank warren purposely kept him away from Marquez and he was gonna throw him in with Manfredy untill he knocked out Gatti and he decided against that aswell
Marquez would have handed his arse to him on a plate as would Morales we already saw what Barrera did to him
hamed was the greatest puncher at featherweight but not the greatest fighter
I would have prefered a Morales fight. JMM was a boring counterpuncher in those days with no name. JMM lost to Chris John and his greatest accomplishment is a draw with Manny. Morales was a stand toe to toe in the ring fighter. Thats what Hamed expected from Barrera and when Marco turned in to a counterpuncher Naseem didnt have a plan B.
My opinion between those 4. Hamed>Barrera>Morales>JMM. that said JMM isnt finished.
Prince Naseem Hamed is the reason any fighter 147lbs and under are making big money now. He was unorthodox, entertaining, and flamboint. He was in a league all by himself. He had the big HBO contract, a huge following, and huge power. Although he did lose to a counterpuncher/boxer of Barrera Im still mad that I didnt see Barrera and Naz slug it out. Naseem wasn't prepared to win so in all honesty he was prepared to lose. Prince Naseem Hamed was a beast in the 90's and his post ring life is tragic. Im glad to see him on the right path of his life. Im a Muslim and when I see a felow Muslim give thanks to Allah Im proud. Remember who are we to judge any human. Id rather see any person give thanks to God, Allah, Jesus Christ, etc. than give thanks to his girl Pookie or his Hood or his promoter.
Prince Naseem Hamed is a legend in boxing.
no he isn't
Yes,he is.His accomplishments in that weightclass sh^t all over what Morales did at that weight.Marquez spent over 13 years at the weight, and yet his accomplishments still fall well short of Hamed's.The fact that Marquez won his first title at the division, against a guy who Hamed had already beaten some six and a half years previous tells you all you need to know about their respective resume's at featherwieght.
To claim Marquez and Morales would have duplicated what Barrera did simply based off of the fact that they hold a win over him is naive, flawed and most importantly, stupid. It's a cheap, lazy pediction that requires no thought.
Marquez and his managed purposely turned down a career high purse to avoid Hamed. You lose you right to complain of others ducking when you were the one responsible for a fight not happening.
Oh,and yes,Hamed is still a greater featherweight than Marquez,Barrera and Morales.

No, dummy.
Gving your all to your preparation and losing gives you no reason for regret. You gave your best, it wasn't enough.
Being the worst prepared you'd ever been on the night you fought the best opponent you'll face in your career is a whole other matter.
The standard of Hamed's preparation declined over a number of years. What part of that don't you understand?
who are you to decide what's enough training?...for ANYONE actually. being "prepared" is relative!
he was a bum and barrera exposed him.
These Mexicans clearly don't know how stupid they come across when the post garbage like this.If he was a bum, then what the f^ck does that say about Barrera's resume?
Hamed,at worst,is the second best name on Barrera's record. That win over Hamed made Barrera a star in the sport, increased his name and marketability in both the states and even more so in his homeland, and to this very day remains his career defining win.Without Hamed, there's a large gap in Barrera's resume.
Oh,and yes,Hamed is still a greater featherweight than Marquez,Barrera and Morales.
disgusting how people say "if he would have trained harder.." etc. that's idiotic. if that's the case, anyone can use that excuse for anyone who ever lost a match.
I thought the vid would be this work of genius.
Hamed lost to Barrera, but his power and chin saved him from being beaten by Sanchez, Kelly and Medina.
Very good fighter, but massivly flawed.
i should have used this video instead :boxing:
naz was a great fighter no doubt, only if he didnt get too big for his boots and would of stayed with brendan ingle he would of took MAB apart imo.they were supposed to fight before the jones fight but MAB got kncked out so it didnt happen,if it would of back then, naz would of won
silly boy had too many yes men around him at the end of his career, the day he walked out on ingle was the day he went downhill, only his power and speed saved him in certian fights before MAB beat him
People say that Naz wasn't a good fighter etc... but he brought in the crowds and people got interested.
Boxing needs eccentric loud mouths aslong as they fight.
He was no doubt a good fighter, however he's not the greatest featherweight of all time, purely based off of resume.
His resume lacks
But hey he wasn't the same right since he lost twice, Hamed never lost but you pathetic brits use the "didn't train right" excuse after he finally fought a real P4P elite fighter and got COMPLETELY schooled. Like Barrera was hameds daddy holding his hand taking him to class.
What has been said about Naz not training properly is factual, theres evidence for it unlike your complete exaggeration of the actual fight. Barrera boxed a discplined fight and won 8-4. He didnt beat up Naz. The "schooling" is very overplayed.

:lol1: At saying Hamed could've beaten Morales or Barrera LMFAO. Barrera wasn't even prime, he had been KTFO by Junior Jones and lost to him again. Dumb ass brits nut hugging some over rated entertaining boxer.
Read more closely next time lol :)
I did read it closely, it's the quoted statement I'm disagreeing with. The reason he looked in trouble so often was because his balance was ridiculously poor, it always made him look like he was about to go down. Manny Steward has talked about it, his poor balance cost him several rounds against MAB because of how awkward he looked after taking shots. The Kevin Kelley and Augie Sanchez knockdowns were solely down to poor balance. His chin wasn't tested in those fights, so the statement is off the mark.
Absolute b*llsh*t. He was only knocked down by those 3 guys because of his poor balance, it has nothing to do with his chin. Watch the fights again.
but his power and chin saved him from being beaten
