Despite being old, past his prime and losing his last fight to Marco Antonio Barrera, Erik Morales gives Manny Pacquiao a boxing lesson. Freddie Roach, before the fight, was quoted as saying "Morales has nothing left, we'll walk right through him!"
This didnt happen. Pacquiao was outboxed, outworked and embarrassed by Morales who hit him completely at will. Morales also cut Pacquiao who was reduced to running away at times in need of a rest. After the fight the "humble" Pacquiao refused to give Morales any credit for beating him and claimed he lost because of "clitoris gloves". Team Pacquiao waited 1 year after this fight to rematch a drained and shot Morales coming off a lopsided decision loss to Zahir Raheem. Who they declined to fight.
Pathetic excuse. Why would he win without the cut? Pacquiao was being outboxed and knocked around before the cut even happened. Morales was just a much better fighter with better skills.
The rematch means nothing, since Morales was completely dominated by Zahir Raheem in the fight prior. Where he lost every round and then had to cut down to 130 for another fight with Pacquiao. Any true champion would have fought the winner of that fight but Pacquiao fought the loser and made him fight a division below his natural weight and still struggled to beat him.
He got elevated into the p4p #3 for beating a shot fighter who was comletely and utterly dominated in the fight prior. It doesnt make sense.
the rematch was already set even before the raheem & velazquez fight, they were supposed to be tuneups
its not pac's fault that erik was schooled by raheem
and what makes you think 135 is erik's natural weight at that time? the raheem fight just proves that erik would be too stretched for this weight
if the rematch happened at 135, the outcome would still be the same
erik already past his prime but not definitely shot during the rematch
he is, on the 3rd fight
What I like about this trilogy is Morales always fought back when Pacquiao started pressuring him. He responded just a few seconds later, just when you think Morales is out of it he swings the fight towards pacquiao. This back and forth action was amazing.
So Floyd has not cherry picked?
Okay I am out of here.
Name me someone who he cherry picked! I'm waiting...
Marquez? The guy who beat Pacroid twice?
Mosley? The guy who raped Pacroid's next opponent?
Oscar? The 154lb champ and cash cow of boxing?
The idea that Floyd cherry picked his opponents is a myth. He beat Judah who had just lost to Baldomir but then beat Carlos aswell. Those two were the #1 and #2 welterweights at the time. He also beat the two best Lightweights of his era in Corrales and Castillo. And cleaned out 130.
I know what your going to say. "He ducked Cotto, He ducked Margarito" but you can't fight everyone and we all know Bob Arum never wanted to make those fights. He preferred to keep all the money "in house" and just mention Floyd to get more attention. When Margarito was the #1 Welterweight Floyd was retired. Before then, he had no name or recognition. Say what you want about Baldomir but he had just beat the Undisputed 147lb champ and would have had the WBA and IBF belts aswell as the WBC if he had paid the sanctioning fees.
So after that fight his choice was Oscar or Margarito.
There's only one winner there.
I agree that Morales gave Manny a good fight.
Without the cut and a better weight for Manny, he won.
However, I am glad Pac actually improved.

Morales dominated Manny in the first fight and the score cards were all 7-5 rounds in favor of Morales right? is that what u call a BOXING LESSON? Manny was probably 2-3 more years to his prime and not his best weight and still won 5 rounds.
Pac (more accurately Roach) has been more guilty of cherry picking recently than Floyd. Most fighters when they get into the position of Floyd and Pac pick and choose their fights.
I'm not saying Pac is a bad boxer. In fact if Pac vs Floyd comes off next year i would have to say it's a toss up.......
I'm just saying Floyd has been more dominant throughout his entire career.
I don't consider outpointing your opponents into boring decisions "dominant"---it sounds like a misnomer when you think of Mayweather.
Manny has lost and had close fights, but that doesn't mean he is a bad boxer. Boxers have a green, prime and shot period.
They also face boxers that are better than them on a given day.
Some are undefeated, but that does not mean they have faced every single fighter out there.
I know Manny has lost and had close fights, but I am still a fan. He is doing something people did not think he could do 3 years ago.
However, that does not mean Floyd has not cherry picked. You can say the same about Pac if you want.

Floyd's dominance has been questioned once......he gave that fighter an immediate rematch and left no doubt.
Pac lost to a past prime EM (who had just lost) and rematched him off coming off a fight in which he lost every round and to compound that they put in a rehydration clause.....and EM was still whipping him early until the fatigue caght up.
Manny has won world titles and then lost them. Another time his "dominance" was questioned was against JMM.......how long did he wait to give JMM a rematch he was chasing??? 4 years?? And what happened.....he got a SD in a fight many people including his resident nuthugger on this site thought he lost.
I think that's the point the TS was trying to make......
The fights between these guys are golden. Probably the best trilogy of modern times and is right up there with Morales/Barrera in my opinion.
Funny how Floyd managed to avoid a fight with either Erik or MAB despite winning belts in the same divisions they fought in.
:(

DUMBASS!!!!!

There should never have been a trilogy because after easily defeating Pacquiao, Morales was dominated in a lopsided loss to Zahir Raheem. If Pacquiao had any courage he would have fought Raheem at 135 right? Well he instead elected to duck Raheem and fight Morales twice more at 130. Yes it was Erik's decision to agree to the 130lb weight but why didnt Pacquiao fight the winner? I guess it's proberbly the same reason why he didnt fight the winner of Mosley/Margarito or Mayweather/Hatton.
That's one thing you can't take away from Floyd. He actually fights the best fighters in their prime at their best weight. Unlike Pacquiao who fights the losers of big fights at catchweights for vacant belts.
But yeah. "Pacman fights the best and Floyd is a cherrypicker"
Keep dreaming. idiots.

It's funny how people can be so ignorant!
When was Floyd champion at 130? From late 1998 to late 2001.
When was Morales at 130? He moved up in late 2003 and didnt win a belt until Fabruary 2004. Barrera didnt fight at 130 until December 2004.
Now you can't be complaining about getting red K's from Manny's fans. You've dug your own grave.
When did I ever complain about that? Your comment is pointless!
