i read people talking about pacquiao not wasting one of the 2-3 fights he has left in him on williams. i agree williams is a bum and a cheater and manny is a great fighter but why do people think he only has 2 or 3 fights. he is only 32 right?
yah, i can see that too...pac ending his career with his last fight in the philippines...either by defending a belt or challenging for a belt.
I honestly think he owes it to his country and his fans who have supported him his whole career. Also it would be as if his career has came full circle in the since he finishes his career where it started.
From what Arum said, Pacquiao has been training extra hard for this fight because he wants to prove that he can fight while being a congressman at the same time. How long he can keep it up is the question. The guy has so many distractions, but manages to do everything.
2012 will be his last year or late 2011. If Mayweather gets sentenced to jail for more than 9 months, Pac will retire earlier. I personally think he can still fight with the shape he's in until he's 34-36 years old. After that would be downhill.
Now this is my personal opinion, but I truly believe he fights one last time in the Phillipines. I don't think he retires before he does that so that may be an indication as to how close he is to retiring.
FWIW last time I check, he wanted to continue fighting as wasn't thinking about retiring.

dude's been talking about retirement for a while now man...i think we see this fight plus one more and he walks...the corrupt money of Philippine politics await
who cares if its corrupt or not? as if the US and any other country isnt corrupt, HAHAHA...for the short time pac has been in congress, he has been one to set the tone for changes...can you say that about mayweather?

I think he's just getting into his prime and i'd say he has at least a few more years at the top. Potentially i think he can be considered one of the best ever if he were to keep fighting the best, personally i wanted him to fight at 147 a few times and move down to 140 and take everyone out, which he could.
for me, theres noone at 140 that could be a challenge for pac. the only challege left at 147 is mayweather...mosley have been way too over rated for his win over margarito...remember, mosley lost to cotto and he struggled to beat mayorga with a last second 12th round KO, before that, he had 4 loses: 2 to winky wright and 2 to vernon forrest....so i dont know how mosley couldve still been associated with being in the P4P top 10.
right now, fight a couple of fights in the jr middleweight (margarito, then maybe cotto or one of the other belt holders at 154, then fight pavlik to test the waters at 160...pavlik would be a good test and gauge at the middleweight for pac, if pac decides to fight one of the belt holders at 160.

I can see manny fighting floyd and the winner of chavez jr and cotto.
the thing is, pacquiao/mayweather might not even happen anytime next year...not until 2012. pacquiao will more than likely fight two fights in 2011...maybe cotto early 2011 (for the wba/wbc belts) since cotto is looking for the biggest fight, then after that...maybe as been rumored, may fight pavlik at 154 if pavlik can go down to 154 or a catchweight of 157, which is no different from lightweights (marquez) and jr welterweights (hatton, now possibly khan) moving up to fight mayweather.
if pac goes undefeated into 2012, then i can see pac/mayweather early 2012...if and only if mayweather is not in jail...if he is, pac retires at age 33 and just focus on his congressman duties. OR,
maybe pac could end his last fight if not against mayweather, against martinez for the 160...that would than be an even bigger fight than against mayweather.
He should retire while he still has that fire burning, once the fire starts to dwindle he'll only be hurting his legacy by fighting on. It also seems that Manny is starting to focus much more on his political career and helping his country, that's what he feels is his logical next step.
He needs to retire sooner rather than later. He has done enough to make himself FOTD, so the only place to go after that is down.
One or two more wins over great opponents and thats it. That will elevate him from FOTD to GOAT.
By the time he retires, I reckon he'll be at least 34. Great time to quit while you're ahead I suppose. Roy Jones should have done the same thing.
yea thats true i guess.
