Victor has been up against tougher competition than Maidana since they last fought. He's still getting wild with his punches though.
& Maidana, although winning a UD against Chop Chop didn't look that spectacular doing it. Then again, Corley does have a tough style.
Who do you think wins this the second time around?
Off topic: I barely got to see the Ortiz v Harris fight today, finally. What in the hell did he do to his back? He should have kept the last name in Old English! I can't tell wtf that is anymore lol
As long as he doesn't brawl with this monster puncher, box the **** outta him, he'll win.
What makes you think Ortiz can just box and stay away from a guy who mission is to put hands on ya??Ortiz will try to stay away and box but get tag a few times and try to respond..Maidana will not stop pressing forward and Ortiz will start to wilt in the face of that real pressure and most likely quit again..
Marcos Maidana has already proven to be too much for Victor Ortiz.
I think that the fact that Demarcus Corley did much better than Victor Ortiz is proof that Victor Ortiz is nothing special.

I doubt you watched Ortiz vs Maidana so if you got time to kill here you go

Ortiz has looked great since that experience though.. I wouldn't say Maidana took his soul.
Unless, like phantom said, he's gun shy from the first fight.
I think Maidana cought him by surprise. Most people didn't know who he was when that fight happened. It's the one that put him on the map. I think Ortiz was expecting something completely different. I think if he's not gun shy he boxes a lot smarter this time around. He may not get a KO, but I wouldn't doubt a U.D.
Look at the faded level of competition he's been up against though. Those fights were there for him to look great in not to be challenged and tested. He hasn't been challenged since the Maidana fight so nobody knows how he's gonna react when the going gets tough until he faces a challenge again.
There's been rumors of Ortiz facing John Murray on the Khan-Maidana undercard...really? Is that the next step in Ortiz's "road to recovery"? Fight a host of faded 140lbers then graduate to young lightweights?
I think we all know Victor fought a stupid fight, for those who say, he quit once, he will quit again, that may be true, but you forget Ortiz dropped him 3 times and can sure as hell drop him more times, if he boxes cautiously and prepares for the right hand, I believe Ortiz will out box and most likely KO Maidana.
No one is denying Ortiz's skills, he is obviously a better boxer than Maidana.
It's the intanglibles people are questioning, and in that department Maidana > Ortiz.
I think ortiz has made some good strides in polishing up his boxing skills, he has looked techniqly better. He now looks to me like he is getting back to the basics. I think his new trainer is good for him and he may beat Maidana but i agree with the rest of you, not untill i see him in a dog fight will i know that he can fight the tough fight.
LOL.. Easy money on Ortiz.. He wins.. EASY..
Victor fought the wrong fight..Hell make adjustments and get a decision.. maybe even a TKO
Just like he made adjustments in their first meeting??Dude Ortiz is a good boxer I don't know yet if he is a good fighter..A good fighter would never quit and say I don't deserve to get beat up LOL...
Maybe you need to go back over and re-read what I said..
I said he's been in tougher than Maidana. As in Maidana has fought William Gonzalez, Victor Cayo and DeMarcos Corley.
Ortiz has fought Antonio Diaz, some dude named Alatorre, Nate Campbell and Vivian Harris.
IMO Cayo and Chop Chop beat Campbell and Harris..I have not been moved by anybody Ortiz has fought since the Maidana fight..Ortiz should fight Zab..Maidana fought Cayo a young boxer with movement and heart(He did not quit)and he fought Chop Chop who is past it but tough..Ortiz fought Campbell who IMO is shot to hell and Harris who's chin is made if glass and has no heart..Ortiz I like him but he has alot more proving to do...
Ortiz did not fight any fighter tougher then Maidana sorry bro..Harris and campbell are not better fighters then Maidana...

Ortiz would fight a smarter fight than before. For this reason i see a UD. He doesn't seem to have the same killer instinct he did before his Maidana loss so i think the KO is unlikely, but i wouldn't rule it out.
Ortiz wouldn't quit again imo and i think he would have gone on to win the first fight anyways.
