Margarito has thrown more punches than Manny vs common opponents...
Total punches thrown vs Clottey: Margarito - 1675; Pacquiao - 1231
Total punches thrown vs Cotto: Margarito - 987; Pacquiao - 780
And note that Margarito's 1675 punches vs Clottey is the all time Compubox record for punches thrown in a 12 round fight.
If Tony is able to walk through Manny's best shots, will he walk him down and overwhelm him with size and pressure? I don't think Manny has ever fought anyone with a higher output than himself.
this will be a DLH - Pac deja vu
I don't think so, Oscar didn't have much left when he fought Pac. He didn't even impress vs Stevie Forbes. And he was completely drained in the fight with Pac. I was there live, he had nothing in that fight. Tony is coming with so much determination and motivation and he's gonna be fighting 3-4 pounds above what he's accustomed to, against a much smaller man. Big advantage for Tony. Pac may have bitten off more than he can chew with this one. It'll be a very exciting fight early, but the late rounds will become extremely rough for Manny with Tony doing some real damage and finishing the fight inside the distance.
if tony will just walk thru manny's punches, then maybe tony is armored with plaster..j/k..:D:D
seriously, manny will soften tony with body shots on the early rounds and go for the kill on the second half of the fight. tony should use his reach advantage with double jabs to keep manny away from landing his punches but 'am not really sure if tony could cope up with manny's footspeed to land his best shots. anything can happen on this fight but looking on their individual resume, manny got better stocks, but tony is a lot bigger, that can be an advantage if he knows how to use it.
technically, whoever got an effective fight strategy should win. but still, good conditioning is a huge advantage.
both fighters promised an exciting fight...let's just enjoy it..:boxing:

margarito is supposed to be able to walk thru pac's shots.
it's up to pac to see if he can throw combos and turn margarito for 12 rounds nonstop
how about my 150 mil to your 100 mil? :D
I'm starting to have second thoughts, Manny appears to be on point in the clips I've seen and his punches sound like they have tremendous snap. Wish there were more clips of Tony's training.
If Margartio walks through PAc's punches, he should assume a new indentity because he won't look like the Antonio Margarito who entered the ring to fight Pac lol...
this will be a DLH - Pac deja vu
If in fact thats the case there will be one difference: TONY WONT QUIT! He'll stand in there and get beat up until the final bell...
Very good points. My main problem with this theory is that Margarito is too damn slow. Sure he's big and pressure from a big guy is different than pressure from a small guy. I question how good Margarito's footspeed is. In my opinion, that's how Pacquiao beats everybody is doing that in and out turning BS. That's why Floyd will always beat Pac. I also am curious as to what kind of impact Margarito's LONG jab will have. I think Manny will tear him up pretty bad in the end but Margarito is a live dog.
If he decides to use it and sticks with it, I think it will make a huge impact and make for a different fight than we're expecting. We'll see what Garcia's gameplan is soon I hope.
And about Manny's footwork/speed - Will the recent article and comments about a "foot pain" be a factor come fight night if not 100%. If he can't move as good as he normally does, does Tony get the advantage?
I'm no bookie but I think come closer to fight night, odds are 3-1.

margarito might be able to walk through pacquiao's punches
but he will have a new face-lift.

Whats actually favours Margarito? He's big slow, plodding style? The wild/Wide thrown punches that a speedster like Pac can see coming with one eye? I dont see any advantages for Margarito in this fight.
Yes he's taller than Manny but when has that meant anything in boxing apart from the heavyweights? If Manny Pacquiao isnt carrying any injury why would he come in heavily and loss his speed?
If Pacquiao losses this fight then it would say alot about him on my ATG list.
Pacquiao is gonna lose speed and power here, that's inevitable man. Comes with the territory of moving up, I know Pacquiao has proven that to be wrong but he's truly out of his element at Jr MW. You also have to consider the 10 oz gloves, and what Margarito may rehydrate to. I really really do believe that Margarito is gonna be in Pacquiao's face at all times and that he's gonna be well conditioned. I also see Margarito taking a lot of Pacquiao's punches, A LOT. It's not gonna be so bad.
People are angry Margarito is getting a shot at a vacant title rather than someone more worthy. I say be mad at the commission for being lenient on the length of the suspension.
Margarito thanks his lucky stars he's with TR for getting him this far, and he knows he has more to gain if he wins. Not sure if he still got what it takes to weather Pac's shots and movement and pull off the win.
If he loses but finishes strong, he'll be in line for another payday thanks to Arum.
This fight can go a number of ways. Though I doubt Manny loses, it's possible. Regardless, I doubt it.
Manny throws hard shots. If Margarito runs through them, he'll continue to get hit with them. It'll be much the same as Cotto-Margarito. Except that Manny has better stamina and perhaps as good of a chin and is far quicker. Because of that, he'll be able to outlast any Antonio offense.
The fight could also be a short one, with Manny catching Margarito on the way down. Margarito's chin is like many other great chins in the past. Once you lose your edge and you begin to wear down in wars, it's not a single shot that burns you. It's the fact that you realize after three or four rounds, that the punishment won't stop. He could be done with as a top fighter, and Mosley could have exposed that. Manny could capitalize and take him out from sheer punishment. This could happen early on or later on. If it happened, I'd actually expect it early. If it didn't happen early, I suspect that Manny just cruises to a win.
The final outcome could be that Manny comes in and gets caught and gets dropped or wobbled. The troubles could force him to play it safe and tag Margarito from the outside and move. Also very possible.
The only way Margarito wins is with a good shot or if Manny grows old over night. It's also possible that he punishes him until he folds, but I doubt Manny would stick around in the center of the ring long enough for that to happen.
something that has been overlooked is how effective Manny is at going to the body and it seems like thats truly where Tony's problems began at least in the Mosley fight. He let Mosley tee off on his body and that zapped him by the mid rounds. If Manny works his body also this fight will be an ugly one sided affair. That said this is boxing and Tony is a champion with a sizable avantage in weight and height. Anything is possible in boxing if you don't believe me watch Douglas Tyson.
Margarito will likely take a lot of punishment for the first 8 rounds and then I see this turning into a David Diaz/Cotto style fight where Manny is whipping his ass so bad that Margarito's Corner or the ref has to stop it. I dont se Margarito KO'ing him Hatton style or as he did in the end with Diaz but he might get a stoppage at the end as he did with Cotto. I think Margs will be very frustrated with Manny's speed and movement and like most opponents surprised by Manny's punching power.
I think early on Cheato will be able to walk through Manny's punches because of that chin of his but once it gets into the later rounds he'll be worn out. He is just too easy a target and will be there to hit all night. I wouldn't be surprised if Manny KO's him in round 8-12.
Neither one of them really wear down in the later rounds. The Shane fight was the exception, I'll say it again, Tony wasn't right mentally in that fight. He possibly wasn't right physically either, he had to lose around 30lbs to make 147 then. In this fight he came into camp at 160lbs. He's already in good form and very motivated for this fight. If this fight makes it out of the early rounds, it will be tremendous down the stretch.

So much we aren't considering man. Margarito's size, 151, 10 oz gloves. It's important for Pacquiao to maintain his speed because that allows him to hit his opponents with punches they don't see coming. Me, I'm almost certain the extra weight is gonna diminish some of his power and speed. In the end, you might actually be right. Just that there is so MANY things that aren't being looked at, things that actually favor Margarito.

You're still hating on Tony for the putisa he put on ur boy, let it go already, geez. So you're saying Manny will do what Cotto couldn't?
No hating, it's just the truth without his pads he's just a punching bag.
Unlike Cotto, Manny won't be facing bricks coming back at him just Plasteritos plasterless pitty pat punches.
