Amir Khan faces alot of racism in the country of his birth the UK, Whilst Americans were landing on the Moon, The British were making racist programmes like Curry and Chips and going out **** Bashing, Amir Khan with the talent he has deserves to belong to a nation which does not judge him on the color of his skin, But by the content of his charachter, Its the aspiration and dream of all Pakistanis stranded in the UK to move to America the land of the free.
The American nation and people are a light unto all nations, In America you can be black, White, Italian, Asian, Muslim, Jewish, Atheist, But your still an American! In the UK there is no such thing as "British" you are either English, Scottish, Welsh, Irish or a derogatory term for anything else. Take Manny Pacquio for instance if he worked and lived in the UK the only place he would get support is in a china town or chinese restaurant!

he will have to jump through a lot more hoops because of his name, his Muslim religion and his Pakistani ancestry in this post 9/11 world. But I would embrace him as a fellow American if he is granted citizenship

The reason you didnt put a man on the moon before the USA, Is being you are a technologically, and culturally primive society in the UK. Lets be honest, "If ya could have, Ya would have!"
Khan deserves equality
Please forgive my young countryman. He's not yet discovered the joy of reading. He will one day.
In America Khan is a equal, In the UK Khan is a third class citizen

I woud love Khan to come out for his fight like this!

Amir should apply for U.S. citizenship. We love a winner. Doesn't matter where he/she is from. He'll encounter some BS. Everybody does. But he'll assimilate faster and more comfortably here.
Some of what you say has merit regarding the identity crisis that is occurring in Great Britain. But have some compassion. The Brits did the best they could in freeing the subject nations of their empire when it came time to do so. So if some of the lines weren't drawn as well as they could have been...so what? The folks in charge at the time were human too.
Our British siblings are under siege by a sad combination of mature Western social conscience and militant-Muslim expansionism. They can ruthlessly and without apology, crush the threat . This is what the Russians would do today and what the British used to do and what we should but won't do (as we are now a matriarchy). Or they can do as they usually do (and for which I have undying admiration): keep calm and carry on and everything will probably end up British, enlightened and free. As it has ever been and should be.
Having said that, the U.S. still does a good job of absorbing various cultures. AK would be able to live comfortably and focus on realizing his potential. Racism still exists here, but it is practiced equally by all sides and only by a loud, idiotic, minority that can mostly be overcome w/o undue stress.
I would welcome him as a citizen as long as he jumped through the appropriate bureaucratic hoops.
Anybody wants to fight me on any of this can make a thread in the lounge. Let me know.
Bring it.:boxing:

Al Murray puts it better than I can
The reason we didn't put a man on the moon first is because there is no one on the moon to give it back to, once we're done with it.
Secondly, you don't have a clue what you're taking about. England never had any sort of racism/civil rights problem as bad as America, more specifically Mississippi. And you'll find that immigration from Asian countries really didn't accelerate until the early 80s, so really if there was any race problem here in England it certainly wasn't in the 70s. And in the 80s, our thugs were too busy beating the shít out of each other over football matches.
When it comes to racism, the worst it's been is over the early 2000s when there were several riots and protest marches around the North West, but even they weren't anything compared to Mississippi during the civil rights movement.
Basically, you don't have a clue. Amir has a big following in the UK, he's very popular. Accept that or shut the fúck up. http://www.boxingscene.com/forums/images/icons/icon14.gif

Wtf? I'm English because I'm from the country, England. Like you're American because you're from America. Like Joe Calzaghe is Welsh because he's from Wales. Understanding this?
