julio cesar chavez, followed close by sal sanchez, a lot of old timers in mexico loved raul "raton" macias, he was the first champ to stop the whole country when he fought, never happened again until JCC defeated camacho...
somebody in this thread named napoles, he was loved by all but he was a cuban, still mexico loved him as our own... very charismatic guy...
el lion de culiacan cabrones JULIO CESAR CHAVEZ 130,000 in aztec stadium that says it all on how big he was and the guy gets botherd everywhere by his fans..he is a symbol in mexico along with hugo sanchez most famous soccer player him and chavez are the 2 biggest sports stars in mexican history
Since the time period encompasses at least the last half of the 20th Cent. i would say, KID AZTECA, GASPAR ORTEGA, JULIO CESAR CHAVEZ, MEXICAN JOE RIVERS.
Morales. Even Pacquiao's hardcore fans cant deny that Morales gave pac more than he could handle the first time out.
War Morales, he was the ****in' man.
Edit: Also, I don't think anyone can disrespect Rafa Marquez and Israel Vasquez after their great great trilogy together.
Such a great post :headbang:

Erik Morales because he made it look easy. Unlike a lot of Mexican brawlers, he knew how to box but chose to turn it into a brawl at least once every fight. He is a legend in my eyes.
If I had to choose it would be Sal as I'm a mini-nuthugger ... then Morales, Finito, MAB, Jmm. The rest are ok to me as well with the exception of Segura. I was turned off by the Canchilla fight by excessive showboating. So, was quite happy he lost that one. :). But it seems that loss make him a better fighter so good for him. I would think we should wait a few more fights before making him a part of this list. I can understand Montiel but Segura's resume don't stack up with the rest.
My favourite is Vicente Saldivar.
my dads favorite boxer of all time
good thing youtube is around because i have finally been able to checkout the saldivar fights. after hearing about him for so long
anyways i voted for julio cesar chavez
